Tomorrows the day

Well, im officially at the hospital awaiting lovely tomorrow..

One of the surgeons came in to see me and i asked him about the port he talked about putting in when i came in to schedule my surgery and he was kind of rude and acted like he didnt care whether i wanted it or not bc i told him i REALLY didnt want it..that kind of ticked me off a little but others on here have said that you have to tell the doctor what you want and sometimes you have to be kind of rude about it..im pretty sure they arent going to like me after a couple of days   ahaha

Tomorrows the big day!! Ill finally be UC Free..Wish me luck ill post on here later.

P.S. Im STARVING
     and its only 11 30 ahh!   i have a feeling this is going to be a looooong day haha

What time's your surgery tomorrow?

flchurchlady, my surgerys tomorrow at 8am..i hoping theyll stop my IV long enough for me to take a shower in the morning bc itll be my last for a little while im guessing. You made me LOL when you said id make him laugh ahaha   Im determined to before i leave lol

Thank you Chili..I read that you got a temp ileostomy and were steriod dependant. Right now, im steriod dependant and was wondering if im going to have to ween myself off them after my ostomy surgery. Is that what they did for you? Ah were so much alike..its wierd lol i have pancolitis..wont tomorrow and i was on the same meds as you except i tried remicade and am on methotrexate. 

I think ive gone to the bathroom close to 20 times since 4pm! CRAZY.

and my bums really sore so the nurse gave me this stuff called Magic Butt Cream lol..really...thats the name of it. and it really is magic haha

Well..im getting tired. gotta get up early tomorrow. Ill post on here if not tonight, then sometime after my surgery.

I'm sure the nurse will unhook your IV for a shower this morning, and don't worry, you'll be able to shower after surgery, too. Just ask the nurse for a plastic bench to sit on, so you don't have to stand.

It sounds like your UC went out with a bang yesterday! With 20 trips to the bathroom and the need for Magic Butt Cream... I'm sure you'll never forget that experience!
I'm praying that everything goes perfectly this morning, and we look forward to hearing from you after you're UC FREE!!!!

GOOOOOD MORNING

In about an hour Ill be on my way to the O.R. Last night they told me it would be at 8am and then one of the residents came in and said it would be closer to 10 sooo i was getting myself ready and then they came and said it would be later haha..kind of a bummer.

How long after surgery until i can drink broth? The only bad thing about this is that you have to starve   But dads getting my 2 bags of fritos for when we leave the hospital haha CANT WAIT..maybe i should though..i dont want to eat something that would hurt me.

I just got home from my reversal and mine went really well too. I'm still too exhausted to talk about mine as well, blah. I hope you get to eat soon!

Contrary.  Allowing yourself to experience pain will only delay your recovery.  Use your pump when you feel you need it.

I am so happoy for you. I just read that you underwent the first stage of J-Pouch surgery.
Finally, you are UC free and symptom free.
I had undergone the same surgery 3 weeks ago and now im at home feeling great and recovering.
I am weaning on prednisone now since i was prednisone dependent. my doctor told me i cannot stop it directly. Now im on 20 mg prednisone and i will go down to 10mg next week and then i can stop from there since im UC free too. No more meds anymore or painkillers. Life after surgery is gettingt better and better. It's great to be able to eat anything and not feel the UC pain we used to have and not think about the bathroom for a while. Think about the coming days and how much better u will become. I feel with you and remember how much tired i used to be.
Rest... Relax. This time of reovery is for you. Stay positive and walk whenever u are allowed to walk and start walking...

So a little difference in my surgery..they hooked me back up so poo is coming outta my stoma and my booty that way when i come in next time all they have to do is basically patch up where my stoma is..i was kinda mad bc i had accidents in my undies bc i could never tell when it was coming but its getting better and now i have to end up sitting on the toilet forever bc my stomach muscles still hurt wayyy too much to push it out. ive been walking..doc says i might be able to leave today =) id like to be home for thanksgiving.

I dont remember anything from the first four days but thats a good thing. i must have been in a lot of pain bc my dad told me one of the nurses were asking me ?s and i was like.. ARE YOU DONE GIVE ME MY DRUGS haha ..apparently that medicine brought out my mean side   oh that face reminds me..i FINALLY got the doctor to smile!!! one night when i was in the PICU they were doing something and i made him hold my hand instead of my dads..which i guess hurt my dads feelings   and ever since that night hes been smiling and i think that made him kind of warm up to me. I still have my Central Line in but theyll take that out either today or tomorrow and im only taking 25mg of prednisone i start tapering from 20 tomorrow realllllly slow..like 20 to 15 to 10 to 9 to 8 until finally none!

Im feeling so much better than the past days and my stoma has been talking non stop lol but as long as its talking i know its working so its almost like relief to hear it bc im afraid of blockages. im eating almost anything i want. still staying away from hard or rough foods and the poo in my bag is mushy instead of runny..im acutally suprised that its like that so soon. i dont know if thats normal but i figured it take a while to get mushy..

A lot of my pain is on my left side but they cut on the right and my bag is on the right..and its not even where they operated so im guessing its bc where they took my colon out and everythings just kind of hurting from where they had me stretched out and who knows what position they had me when they were operating.

Well im going to for a little walk..havent been talking too much..took a wheelchair ride yesterday but thats bc i couldnt walk for that long.

Will walking help or increase the pain? Right now im taking perkaset for pain and it seems to help i think. Any tips on how to get rid of pain? It would be MUCH appreciated.
