Edges of Wafer peeling away

My son is away at school and e:mailed me b/c his wafer has begun to pull away from the skin around the edges alot and he says there is either no adhesive left or dry skin making it not stick.  He's afraid if he uses lotion, the skin will be too greasy and it won't stick.  Has anyone had this experience or have any suggestions.  Thanks!

I use the Hollister 2 piece drainable appliance (Premier).  It has a waterproof "pictureframe" tape around it.  This helps to keep the wafer from lifting up.  Also protects from water while in the shower. Hope this helps....Cheryl

Lew1201, is your son' s skin under the wafer irritated? You mentioned dry skin peeling off. I had an allergic reaction to several different types of wafers (brands) before I landed on one that works for me (Coloplast Sensura - 1 piece pre-cut) Great for sensitive skin. My Ostomy Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) called me in a prescription for Kenalog Spray. This stuff works wonders with clearing up irritation/infections, etc. Hard to find, though.

Also, if he finds that tape is too irritating, have him look into HydroFrame® Hydrocolloid Flange Extensions. Welland Medical makes these (can be ordered through Edgepark Medical - order #XWAF H33) or Securi-T Hydrocolloid Skin Barriers

Tape is very good for this. I use Mefix brand, stays on thru several showers etc...good stuff.

Where do you obtain the Mefix tape ?
