I just got samples of the Sensura flex 2 piece, I think it's by Coloplast. Does anyone have experience with it? It looks fascinating... there is no snap-able ring on the wafer, the wafer and pouch are attached purely by adhesive. It is so flat and sexy looking (LOL), and I think I will try it, I am just worried about how it can possibly work without leakage... I currently use a 2 piece Hollister, and just got on top of my leakage issues.

What a coincidence...I just rec'd samples of the Marlen (they're a local mfg co here in ohio) ones without the snapable ring, just adhesive to put the two together!!!  I'm nervous and have been looking at them all week...afraid to try!

So, I'll try mine if you try yours smurf

I'm going to wait until the weekend, if things go South it might be a little less disastrous. :)

I use Coloplast Assura AC (adhesive coupling) that doesn't have snaps or rings to click. Just sticks to the plate. I LOVE it, plus there's no clip either... has the velcro closure.

does it really hold when it fills? especially w/the liquid? when its mostly water? does it pull or seperate any?

My ET nurse said that at an ostomy conference they showed that the Coloplast AC system held a bowling ball! In the mornings, let me say its close for me :-) and it has never came off!

OMG...that would be great, a bowling ball!

They sent wafers that are too big:( I am calling on monday to get my size and will let you know...

I've tried the Assurra Coloplast AC and found that work well. The only thing I didn't like about it was the pouch had a narrow drainage opening. I like the Coloplast Sensura wide opening kind. If they made them like that then, wow...they'd be wonderful!

Ok, I've been wearing the Sensura Flex since Friday night, no leaks so far. The pluses, the wafer material is kind of plastic-y (for lack of better description) and doesn't bug my skin like the Hollister wafer has been lately. And its easier to dry after a shower. It's definitely flat, but not as slim as I thought it would be. Don't know if I'm just not used to it yet, or if it's narrower than the Hollister one, but it's a little more cumbersome to drain.

All in all, so far so good. Not sure whether I will abandon my Hollister for it permanently tho. Anyone else?

I was going to try it as soon as I changed my other sensura, BUT when I finished dinner today, my bag fell right off (the old sensura not the fles) and It was full of poop. Then I had to clean my dining room floor. ARGH!

Since they only sent me 1 bag for the flex (I know.....what's that about) I'm afraid to try it yet b/c if the bag pops off, then I'll have to change everything!
I'll call the company and tell them I need more bags in order to try it! then I'll let y'all know.

Pibbin-is your hollister flater?
the holister I tried was bulky-i didn't like that.

Hey Chasblah, I've only used Hollister primarily up til this point, so don't have much to compare it to. I wouldn't necessarily describe it as bulky, but the ring does seem a bit pronounced, and it seems that the bag gets sort of puffy and stretched out from gas and seems a bit more prominent after a few days of wear. Don't know if that answers your question. I'm finding that the Sensura flex is a little bit flatter, and the bag seems to be holding up well after 5 days of wear at this point.

Overall, the filter has been working well. The bag only really gets puffy after a lot of output/gas, and of course, after the overnight stretch. Seems less puffy than the Hollister New Image I was wearing.

Interestingly, just today (day 5), I noticed that behind the filter there is now a tiny stain, where it looks like a tiny bit of stool has eeked out, no mess, but a slight odor.

I'm going to change everything tonight (I have one more free sample), and see whether it happens with the next set, or if this is random.

I notice the coloplast filters don't work as well as the hollister. I notice a smell after 3 days. If I like everything else, and no leaks (which I had probs with) then I can do without a filter.
But Pibbin-yes that's what I meant when I said bulky; That the ring is more pronounced than I like. The flatter the better-as long as they work well, of course.
I still haven't tried mine yet......Nervousness I guess.
I have another question for those who have:
I really like taking my bag off in the mornings and cleaning my stoma. Then I clean out my bag and put it back on. Can you take the flex's bag off and put the same one back on?
The reason I ask is b/c they only sent me one sample bag...?! (How am I supposed to try a 2 piece with one bag, when the wafer's last longer than the bags)
So I called the Edgepark (they sent me the sample) and told them to send me more bags. They sent 1 more! UGH! So, I want to know b4 I put my skin through unneccissarryy wafer changes.

(p.s.-I don't know how to spell unneccissarryy so I just doubled all consonants to make it dramatic)

I ordered a senura flex sample. I really would like it to work. However, I am so spoiled with the moldable flange--I don't know.

Ok, now that I am out of sensura flex samples and back in my hollister, I miss the sensura flex A LOT!!! The pouch held it's shape so much better, and was more discreet under my clothes. The only downside was that the filter was not so great, but b/c I had such a great seal, I figure I can change the pouch twice per week and keep the same wafer on. I am planning to place an order today, I think I am a convert.

Chasblah, not sure if the pouch can be removed and replaced daily -- I'd imagine the adhesive might weaken, and then there might be a leakage issue, so might be one area where a lockable ring may be better for you.

I would contact Coloplast directly -- they will send you more samples than Edgepark, I'd imagine. The coloplast rep sent me 2 pouches and 2 wafers, but I bet you could talk them into more. :)

so pibbin when u say change twice a week u mean the flange and the bag? or just the bag? what about burping it? have u tried?

I mean replacing the bag twice per week, I can get 6-7 days out of the flange/wafer. I've never had to burp any pouch that I've used... I generally just go to the bathroom and empty from the bottom if necessary, too fraidy-cat to mess with detatching the pouch from the flange, I'm a klutz and would be asking for trouble, LOL.

hey guys, im on the website and trying to figure out the right size i'd need. but i dont see product numbers. whats up w/that? coloplast doesnt show product numbers? i can't remember how i got the product numbers for my extended wear

GOOD NEWS!
I called Coloplast today and asked if I could take the bag off (to clean around stoma) and put the same bag on.
The customer service reps said Yes like 20 times.
Really?
Yes! But she recommended putting the old bag adhesive cover thing back on so dust or particles didn't get onto the adhesive and make it less sticky.
I'm so excited!!!!
I'm going to go put it on right now.
I hope I'm not disappointed.
Pibbin-did you go back to the flex-did you order some? Or do you still prefer your hollister?

Hi Im a little bit lack of knowledge about all this......53 days with colostomy......so forgive my virginancy....lol.....What are you referring to when you talk about filter.....I us the hollister 2 peice and us the drops for smell......this seems to be working wonderful for me at this time.....however the smells from my urigation keep getting stronger.....im thinking its because im getting my appitite back.....any again im greatful........maggie

the filter lets gas out without having to 'burp' the bag. But some don't work for very long (coloplast). They stop working after a day-meaning they clog up with poo and then the bag acts like it doesn't have a filter. I think the hollister filters are better.
but filters don't do anything for odor.


I have a dumb ? . What are the little white stickers that come with your bags?

Chas, I DID go back to the Sensura Flex. I have a box nearly full of Hollister in my closet, but I am saving those for emergencies, b/c I already received a new order of the Sensura. So glad to hear you can put the bag back on, never would have guessed that. So pretty much the filter is my only complaint.
