The 8-10 bathroom trips is correct, 2-5 would be lucky for those of us with UC. I would also advise to go to jpouch.org and you will see a wide variety of experiences, some good, some bad, some horrible. I think that it's the best way to see what life "could" be like in any situation, but realize that you probably won't have any complications. I am one that wants to know what I am getting myself into and we all know that surgeon's don't tell you everything. They didn't tell me about
"butt burn" or the chance of chronic pouchitis which I've dealt with, but I will also say that I can live like this and do everything I did before surgery.
It sounds like your next surgery would be the creation of the pouch and takedown all in one step? This is considered a major surgery and I would think that the no lifting anything heavier than 10lbs would apply for at least 6 weeks. I wouldn't worry about
how soon you can get back to heavy sports, just know that you will and you should take your time as to avoid a hernia.
Hope you can find the answers you are looking for and good luck if you have another surgery!
