the wreck!

So here I was at work yesterday, I needed to go to the bathroom and empty. Everything was going well until the tail of my pouch slipped out of my hand after I undone the clip .

It wasn't positioned to point into the toilet yet!! 

OMG OMG!!! all the pouch contents emptied into the inside of my pants . OMG, what am I gonna do now!!     I have no spare clothes there. I had to call over my co-worker to the bathroom door and got her to bring me the phone. I call the "other half" (luckily he was home!!!) to bring me some clean clothes. I cleaned out my pants and got them washed out, cleaned the sink and toilet while I was waiting. Finally my co-worker shows up with my much needed bag of clean clothes. What a nasty wreck. I'm usually so careful about stuff like that, but I guess crap happens (pun intended) sometimes. I sure hope that never ever happens again   . This is my first "real" nasty wreck since being bagged in '02... other small inconveniences I've had were either at home or close to home and never presented a problem.

 

I literally gasped out loud and clapped a hand over my mouth when I read what happened to you!!! Lol!

You handled it very well, and your story reminded me of 2 things: 1.) No matter what embarrassing thing happens, it is not the end of the world, and 2.) I better keep a spare change of pants at work! I am going to pack them in my car right now so I don't forget!!

I am sorry this happened to you, but it does sound like you triumphed through like a champ!!!

I'm new the world of the ileo, so I am definitely going to put a change of clothes and shoes in the car.     I work 45 minutes from home and I be darned if I get stranded somewhere.  Which makes me think that I need to pack separate bag all together with my 'needs'.  I have been caring it all my bag/purse, but I think I'll designate a special one just for the clothes, wipies, emergency things, etc. 

I am so so so glad you shared...you've hopefully prevented me a catastophy!!!

 

Ive had an ostomy for many years and I've seen it all. The fact that you shared your experience means your dealing with it well. Just a quick funny story that I have.... I was in college when I first had ostomy surgery. When I started back after surgery I was sitting in between two attractive girls during a test. Out of nowhere I had a gas attack and it was very loud. Everyone turned to see who was the obnoxious retard that farted. I wanted to vaporize I was so embarrassed. I knew I had to say something so I just apologized and explained about my new ostomy and how it was very unpredictable. I was truly amazed at how curious everyone was about it. I answered questions about it for 10 minutes and then everything returned to normal. It's amazing what we can endure and once most people know what we are dealing with they are very kind. I even started dating the girl sitting next to me when that happened. Who woulda thunk it!

I bought a black makeup type bag at walmart, just before I went out of town in February. I carry all of my ostomy needs in it. The only things that don't fit in it, are my change of clothes, and a blow dryer. I don't take a blow dryer to work with me, though i've considered doing so. Unless you look in my large bag of goodies, all you will see is the black bag, with clean clothes under it, and then books etc.
