Flying with ileostomy

I am enjoying not having had to call my surgeon with any issues lately, and would like to continue my winning streak. So I will ask y'all: Are there any issues I need to be aware of if planning a flight with a temporary ileostomy? There will likely be a funeral that I need to attend in the upcoming weeks, and I would really like to be able to attend. I am not currently on any meds, and am managing with my stoma/appliance just fine. Prior to my surgery, flying always triggered a flare for me, so just want to make sure that I am in the clear now that I have no colon.

only possibility is someone from TSA going through your stuff, pretty much. Happened to me once and I told the woman what it was (they'd wondered on the x ray and stupid me had left hand sanitizer in my brief case ..... liquids concealed, bad!). She looked sort of freaked and handed me back my back without tossing the stuff all over the airport! If you're concerned get a note from your doctor explaining your condition. I've been flying with this since the mid 1980s. I can't think of any issues. Anything I can do on terra firma, I can do on a plane!

Also, you can pre-cut any waterproof tape and stick it to a plastic bag...just one of those things that "what it" you've got a bandaid!!

I flew in february, on a small plane, without any problems. Like someone said, don't forget to pack your scissors in something besides your carryon bag. OR precut your appliances. I took 5 extras with me, and only had a leak once. I was well prepared. Probably over prepared, but didn't want to have to think about having to find some place to buy stuff while out of town. I would put your paste in a ziplock bag. good luck!!
