Lizzie,

I've been worried about you.  I'm so sorry you're back in the hospital, but at least you're being taken care of.  Don't rush to get back to work, just take it easy and get better.  You've been through so much, I'm so sorry you have to go through this now.

Just an update: Well I am still in the hospital. Pretty much since Tues, but with a brief reprieve......I still have very little to no bowel sounds and my tummy is still very distended. This also even with the NG tube in. I have had trouble peeing....I have only gone about 1000ml since yesterday and I have 5-6 liters, with one being a bolus to rehydrate me. I have to really push to pee. Not sure what is going on. They said they are waiting for me to have a BM.......but I do not think that is going to happen anytime too soon, if ever. I am not taking MOM. I wonderf if I should  be?? Anyeays. Hope you are all well....have to go the dilaudid is talking.

Update:

Still in hospital. Still no bowel sounds or movements. My blood sugar and calcium were low today and I am not peeing well still. I am puffy like a marshmallow. They have me on diaudud for pain, benadryl for the itchies, and zofran for nausea. Dr. this am said they are trying to avoid doing surgery, but if it doeant resolve they will have too.

Whata surgery are they going to do if the issues don't resolve themselves? Is this the same hospital where you had your prior surgery, and is this your same doctor? If not, is it possible to get in touch with them? I'm thinking about you and praying for you, sweetie!

i'm so worried about you Lizzie, does dr Nadav know what's going on? did they do a ct scan? is it possible to have so many ct scans? i'm thinking of you and praying for you, my friend. hope to hear something soon.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I hope things resolve real soon. How frustrating for you. I have the same questions as the others have posted. I'm praying for you too. Hope you have answers very soon. Hang in there. You're a fighter!

Hi guys....

Well nothing has improved. I am still distended and swollen. I have no bowel sounds and have not had a BM since wednesday. I am puffy and full of fluid +almost 1.5 Liters. Dr. Dujovny admitted me. I saw him wed and thursday and his colleague over the weej=kend. They have done a CT and teo series of abdominal xrays. I am ay the same hospital I had my surgery. They would most like do an ilrostomy of some sort, again I want the k-pouch, so I am not sure whats going to happen....Dr. Dujovny has a partner that trained at Cleveland Clinic and may do the k-pouch procedure.

My outpur through NG in increasing instead of decreasing....I have almost 800 ml every 6-7 hrs and they consider this a lot. I am on dilaudid for pain almost every 2 hrs and zofran and benadryl (itchy). So far this is all I know.......I am so sad and frustrated. I sent my husband out for a guys nite....he needs and deserves one. He has been though so much with this....check in later.

Thank you for thinking of us and writing the detailed update Lizzie. Gosh, I can't imagine how frustrating and uncomfortable this is for you. I hope that your dr can get this cleared up soon. Waiting is so hard. You are in my prayers.

At least you know you're in good hands. I know you must be so discouraged and sad now, but just think how wonderful it will be to finally be "fixed" so you can get on with your life. You're in all of our thoughts and prayers! Thanks for keeping us posted, you are a real fighter, that's for sure!

Hi Everyone,

Still waiting on my computer so I only have access to one on the weekends when my daughter comes home; don't get to read all the post but try to catch up with most of them.

Lizzie-So sorry you are in the hospital; I hope you get some relief from your pain soon.  I wish I could just be there to give you a big hug.  You are always in my prayers.

Hodaya-I hope you are feeling ok and that you will soon know when you will have surgery.  So happy to hear the great news about your Mom.  Our prayers have been answered, but I will continue to pray for her and you.

Amanda-I hope you are doing well. I only read a couple of pages tonight and didn't see any posts by you, I'm hoping that's a good sign.  Always in my prayers.

Janie-Sounds like you're doing great!  Keep up the good healing and you'll be amazed at how wonderful it feels to be healthy.

Karen-Don't worry about not doing too much yet, take your time and let your body heal completely; everybody heals at different rates and it takes up to a year to heal from this surgery.

As you can see I continue to pray for you all and my pray list continues to grow as new people join.  Please pray for healing for the families of the shooting victims that occurred in my hometown last week.  We have a lot of healing to do as a comminuty.

I could also use some prayers as I continue to have a very large kidney stone and they now have to remove it through an incision in my back; after my colectomy I vowed I was done with surgery but I don't want to pass this stone.

I probably won't be back on for a couple of weeks because we're going to Myrtle Beach on Monday to see our daughter smilewinkgrin , we haven't seen her since she moved away on Jan. 4th; we are sooooo excited.

Judy, I agree, you do not want to pass that stone if it is large! When I first learned I had kidney stones is when I was trying to pass a very large one. I had to be hospitalized and wait it out. Oh my gosh, it was painful. Do they do this by laparoscopy? (ok, i know i spelled that wrong) I live in MN and we finally had a nice warm day today. Myrtle Beach sounds wonderful! Have a joyful visit-

does dr Nadav think the k pouch is a good idea?

So heres my update:

Dr. Kim (Dr. Dujovny's colleague) came in this morning and the xray I had last night showed some gas improvement, but not in the blockage. He feels I need to have surgery at this time (this week sometime). We are waiting to talk with Dr. Dujovny in the am about the k-pouch. This is still my first preferance, but I would have to travel for that and getting insurance coverage etc. I do not know how that works. I still have a large amt of output from my NG (800 ml every 8 hrs). They just did an ultrasound of my gallbladder , spleen, and liver becuase of the back pain I continue to have. So until tomorrow morning all I know is that I have to have surgery. I may have to have an ileo vs. the k-pouch, but i will not know until tomorrow. I am still in a lot of pain. On dilaudud every 2 hrs and sometimes every hour. Still having a bit of trouble peeing, but its getting better. so thats it for now. I am in shock kinda....do not know what to think. Cannot believe this happened.....love you all. Lizzie

we love you too, Lizzie, and still praying for you. do they know what exactly caused this? i mean, is this something that was slowly created more and more during all of these last months when you were feeling so bad and vomiting and no real bms and now it just gotten to it's top worst, or was it something sudden that happened? (i hope i explained my question right..)

i'm waiting for tomorrow to hear what will be decided. hang in there, sweetie, hugs to you!!

I'm feeling so bad for you Lizzie, I wish you didn't have to travel for treatment. Insurance. Yucky stuff to get figured out when you are in such pain. Lizzie, I'm sorry I cannot remember specifics as I am still trying to get to know all of you. Did you have a colectomy or were you waiting for one?

Hodaya-I'm sorry you are hurting so much. Why does this problem have to be so darn complicated.

I go in tomorrow for my pre-op and then am scheduled for surgery the 20th. I'm getting scared again. But will stick with the plan.

i'll be praying for you, dear Linda, everyday starting today. believe me, i sure understand how you feel, boy am i going through the same fears as you. i wish we were all close by to support each other. stay strong, my friend, and be extremely positive, ok? thinking of you.

mad   sad smhair --------This is how I feel. So I met with Dr. Dujovny andnI am having surgery today. I am having ileostomy done @4 PM. They do not think I can hav the k-pouch at this time becuse if the blockage. I am scared, nervous, drugged up on dilaudid for my anxiety and pain. I tool 3 months off of work so far and a poss 6 if I do the k-pouch. I have cried all day, met with a nutritionist, since i have had no food in five days so far. I need you support and prayers and love. i go in at about 4 pm eastern standard.

I cannot believe this is happening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- abd pain tues to surg Mon!!!!!!

So scared.

Oh Lizzie, I'm sorry for all that you are going through. Once this is taken care of you will be so much better off. My sister had ulcerative colitis and she ended up having 3 major surgeries over 3 years. She even tried the J pouch. Things just never worked out for her like it was supposed to. She now has an illiostomy and couldn't be happier. She said she doesn't regret it at all. She can do anything she wants to do. It took time to adjust to it, but she learned by forums like this one and by trial and error. She is 37 and has had it for about 10 yrs now. Nobody can tell she has it, even when swimming. I know it's a shock to you right now. I just wanted you to know it will work out and you'll be on your way to feeling much better. Keep writing and telling us how you are feeling. Keep reaching out. Keep venting. We will be here to talk to you and pray for you. It's going to work. For whatever reasons we don't know, this is how it had to be for the decision to be made. This is the next step to health!!

oh Lizzie honey, you're going through such difficult time, i'm so sorry things are not the way you wanted them to be. you know, these last few days i've been more and more thinking about one of the things that scares me most about this surgery.. yeah - ending up with a premanent ileostomy!! yes it's one of the things i've always been most scared of. so these last few days i've been having more and more pain and it was getting so hard to function and i was like thinking that i don't care about NOTHING no more, i don't care, i should just beg my dr to just pls go a head with the surgery and if it doesn't work and i need a bag, then so be it, cause honestly, i'm 1000% sure that my life would be SOOOOOOOO much better even with a bag. i truly don't care anymore, i just want to feel good again, i want to be able to go out of the house in the morning, instead of spending 5-6 hours bound to the loo before i can go out, i want to be able to see ppl, go to parties, go to family occasions, be involved, instead of living life like half the day i'm working on having a freaking minimal bm and the other half be at work and on top of that, be in alot of pain most of the time even when i don't eat. i'm so isolated and alone. so yeah, i'm SO ready for a change.. ANY change.

please honey, i hope you find the strength to be strong and brave and cope with what ever comes in you way and overcome it. i love you so much, sweetie, i think you're a wonderful loving, caring person and you won't lose your identity or personality cause you have a bag, you'll still be the wonderful Lizzie that everybody love so much. love you and praying for you, my dear.

Add me to the list of people who love you and are praying for you! I know this is a big shock because this happened so quickly, but I honestly believe things happen for a reason. You couldn't continue on the way you've been; even waiting til June wasn't a good option at all. Just think positively and realize that soon you will be well! Something you haven't been for a very long time. I think an ileostomy is something none of us would choose first, but if it makes you feel better and have a normal life, it will be so worth it. I've thought of that myself. I can't imagine anything worse than not being able to go to the bathroom, so if you think of it that way, maybe it will make the reality a little better.

Please let us know as soon as possible how you're doing. You are a real inspiration to all of us that's for sure. We love you, too!
