Someone gave me the link to seprafilm and now I can't find it.  Can anyone post it again for me?  I want to ask my surgeon about it Monday before my surgery.  Thanks!!

Amanda, i don't know how it goes at your hosp, but over here we have to ask the surgeon a few days before the surgery, cause they don't keep it in the hosp and it takes a few days for them to order and get it, so maybe you should call now. good luck!

Thanks Hodaya, I figured it was too late for her to use it if wasn't already planning on it. What I wanted to ask her is if she uses it or not. I guess there's nothing I can do about it now, I really don't want to bug her on the weekend, ya know? Whatever happens will happen.

i don't know, if there's a way for you to get her on the phone, then i think it's important enough to give it a shot and see if there's a chance you can still order it.. but i don't know. anyway what ever happens, let it be good!

My mother died after Seprafilm was used on her intestines after a routine surgery to remove adhesions. The surgeon said that her intestines, where the Seprafilm was placed, was like spaghetti stuck together. The surgeon said he would never use Seprafilm again and would warn his colleagues not to use it. Even though my mothers reaction is not a common reaction if you look at the FDA's Maude data base there have been hundreds of adverse events and several deaths relating to Seprafilm. I would advise your surgeon to be very causious in the use of seprafilm.

OM gosh!  I'm so sorry.  I have never heard of issues using seprafilm.  It seems like such good news for those of us with adhesion problems.  Never thought it could cause problems like your mother had.  Wow!

2 RISK, I hope your surgery went well. I'm wondering if you asked your doctor about Seprafilm and what he said. Did he use it in your surgery, or not?
