Question if you keep emergency supplies in your car....

Hi everyone,

After reading Peggy's thread on funny (in retrospect) accidents, I realized I should probably keep some emergency supplies in my car.

Here's my question: this time of year, my car gets sweltering hot during the day---will this ruin any wafers and/or paste that I keep in there? I just want to keep a bag in there all the time, not have to take it in and out of my car each time i go somewhere.

Does anyone else keep supplies in a really hot car? Do the wafer get ruined?

i do keep one set in there and i live in the south and it gets HOT, i figure that the wafer wont last long, but it should last long enough to get me home!

I keep a baggie with a wafer, bag, paste, and a j-cloth in my purse. I have a pretty small purse and it doesn't take up much room. That being said, I carry a purse. If I was a man I guess I'd take my chances with the car.

I do keep meaning to put a change of clothes in the car, though. That's probably just as important as the bag.

I've had them in my car...but yes, they don't work as well if they get hot repeatedly...I just took my chances.

Now, I have a wafer/seal and two pouches in a SMALL makeup bag in my purse...that being said I usually leave my purse in my car so I'll have the same issues!!

Like summerstorm said I'm betting they'll work long enough!

I usually don't take anything with me if I am within an hour or so of home, and just me and my DH. If we are going any further OR with a group where we just can't head home if I needed to, then I take a "one change" kit with me and just usually leave it in a bag in the car. I usually have bottled water with me anyway or other stuff to drink, so I usually have a spare bag with me.

Now that I have said this, I will probably be sorry!!!

I usually keep all my 'stuff' in the car in a hollister 'purse.'  2x flanges, 2x bags, sissors, paste, powder, spray, glue remover and 4x of those small tissue packets.  When I do change my flange/bag, I take them from this purse, so they are always being rotated out.  The longest they stay in there is 14 days.  Never had a problem with flange deterioration or anything, and they're out there in the heat or in the cold...doesn't seem to effect them IMO. 

Besides the stuff in the car, I normally don't carry any supplies on my person.  I'm hardly ever more then a 5-10minute walk from the car anyways.  Probably just as far as the nearest washroom.  When I *do* go for long extended periods from the car I'll take a precut flange and bag with me, just in case, but that's it.  It's just to get me back to the car and my other supplies.

I kind of have it everywhere. My daughter is 23 months, so I keep some in her diaper bag. I also have a convatec bag that I will throw in the car if I'm going out for most the day. I have yet to throw a change of clothes into my car, but I'm thinking about just throwing an old sweatsuit or something in there. I figure if I have a leak, I'm likely going to have to go home and shower (that's just me) and want to make sure the appliance is on properly...so I just need enough to get me home.

I think I will just get a small make-up bag to keep supplies in and keep that in my purse, which I always have with me (like OHIO suggested) instead of leaving stuff in the car.

I wish I had a "purse" provided for my supplies, Matt! I have a hard time finding a bag that is small enough and flat to hold my supplies...I should call Coloplast and see if they offer them...

I have had emergency supplies at work, but never needed them, so they have been there for a year. I should probably replace the stuff in that kit...!

Thank you for starting this thread. It finally reminded me to put some emergency clothes in my car. I dug through my drawers and found a t-shirt that was always too big for me and a horrid purple pair of spandex-ish shorts that I haven't worn in the last decade. They'll do in a pinch!

thats what i have in my bag usually clothes i would never wear, lol
