I am pretty new to ostomies I got my colostomy about
two months ago. I am having a major issue though of my poop wanting to stay at the
opening and not go down to rest at the bottom of the bag. I end up with a three inch lump on my stomach that grows. To get it down I have to push it to the bottom wich is not a good idea when you are in public. I am so used to having to assist my bowels to the bottom of the bag that I don't realise I am doing it and will pull out my bag and start playing with it while I'm at the store of something. Not a good idea, believe me people start to look. Anyways I was wondering if anyone knew why it was doing this and if there was any way to fix it?

There's a lubricating deodorant that goes in the pouch and helps it slide down, so you won't have to fix it in public anymore!

A lot of colostomates spray some cooking oil around the top inside their bag to help poop slide down (don't get any on the wafer though!).

I use baby oil in my pouch. I also put 1 pieces of scrunched up toilet paper or a cotton ball in the pouch (I prefer using toilet paper). This helps keep the front and back of the pouch from sticking together and helps the poo slide down easier. When the paper gets wet from the baby oil it is easy to move it around inside the pouch recoating the inside of the pouch.
It works for me.

I have an Ileostomy and I play with my bag all the time too... My family is so tired of me saying, "Oh, that's a bean... wanna feel it?" I know, gross... I'm just so fascinated!

I do the same thing. I am fasinated with the poop but my family is also getting tired of hearing about
it. As far as my poop going down I do use the lubricating deoderant but it still stays at the top it just sits there. so annoying.
