Problem after staples came out

I got my 45 staples out yesterday. about 2 hours after them being removed, my wife and I pulled up to the local Target. I got out of the car, and she said "did you spill a soda on yourself? I look down, and my shirt is soaking wet. I immediatley thought my bag had leaked. I lifted my shirt and found a 3 inch section of the wound that was leaking profusely. Its mostly clear plasma with a little blood mixed in, but it is really coming out. I called the doctors office, and they said just put a bandage on it, and apply pressure. That was yesterday though, and I just woke up today and its still leaking.

Any thoughts on this?

that can happen when they are removed...there can be a little pocket of fluid that opens up when the staples are gone. Did they put 'steri strips' over your incision? I've had to pack my incision a few times until the area healed and isn't a big deal. If you are worried, make an appointment with the doc, tho!

I had a bit of a problem too, I had 13 stitches and I had a pocket open up and oooze. I agree to call your doctor if it bothers you even though it is normal to have a pinkish fluid. Just make sure it isn't red, doesn't smell etc

I called the doctors office the day of, and today (the following day). Also had the home nurse look at it. All cases said it was normal. Its oozing alot, but no one seems worried. The home health nurse gave me supplies to pack it, and that seemed to help a lot. Hopefully it will quit oozing in a few days.
