need swimming advice

Does anyone have advise on how I can swim without the bag floating or showing that it's puffed.  I already know about the stoma caps but I can't wear them because my stoma is verrrrrry active and inorder for it not to be I can't eat.  Now that's just not possible.  So please any ideas?? I'm going on vacation in 2 weeks and I'm feel bad that I won't be accompanying my husband swimming or going in the ocean.

the first two years i taped my bag up on itself and just emptied it a little more often.

Then this year i discovered that i relaly only needed to turn it up under my suit and tuck it in, and it stays just fine. I wore it that way down the water slides and all and it was fine.

If you dont have them, order some sureseals and it will be easier to dry off after you get out.

I wear a bathing suit that is a tankini with a skirt on the bottom and noone will ever see it.
Trust me i went swimming with the same people 2 or 3 times a week every week last summer and they had no idea until i told them a while back.

You might want to take some immodiumand gas x before you go out, and eat a light meal.

Oh i didnt see the part about the ocean, i went in the ocean the first two years, and it didnt cause a problem i did notice it shortened my wear time some though, so maybe take some more supplies than you think you would normally need.

My bathing suit is the bomb for ostomates, because it has two layers. The under layer is a one-piece suit, and the top layer is a halter black mini dress. My bag could puff up to maximum capacity and no-one would ever notice! smilewinkgrin

If you can't find one like that, do an online search (like on eBay) for 2 pc tankini swim suit, and you'll find a variety of suits that are great. Make sure to get one with skirt, because it hides the poofy pouch really well! If you find one that's New with Tags and can Buy It Now, you'll have it in time for your vacation.

I live in Florida and swim all the time--in chlorine swimming pools, at waterparks, and in the salty ocean--and have never had a problem. With the right suit, you'll be able to enjoy the beach with your hubby!

Ditto the tankinis (with skirts)...I've worn one for the last ten years and have so many I can mix and match now!

I've never done anything but tuck the tail up. I might not eat as much, but I don't starve while I'm at the beach/pool either!! do you use a filter with your pouch? I do and they work wonders at keep the poof down.

I wear a regular swim suit (one-piece) and it doesn't float or get puffed. It does get big when it's full (after i eat a meal) but i just excuse myself to the restroom and empty, then I'll have another few hours with it flat.

Well, thanks to your post, I decided to buy a tankini swim suit on eBay! It arrived in the mail on Saturday, and I love it! It's made by Jantzen, fits great, and completely hides the pouch and scar on my belly.

My German Shepherd turns one this week, so I made plans with my brother and sister to meet at the dog beach next weekend with their kids and dogs. I've been wearing the same suit for years and wanted to get something new for this family get together.

If you haven't found one yet, I recommend taking a look on eBay for a Jantzen tankini swim suit. The one I got has a halter top with turquoise flowers and a brown skirt. It's very flattering and perfect for ostomates!

Being a guy, I wear a wide elastic back belt when I swim. I sometimes even wear it under my clothes if I have on a tight fittting shirt like a Polo. Its thin and comfortable and works very well.
