sorry for not responding earlier...was in the hospital a few days longer than expected and I've been busy with church etc.
All is well and recovery is going good.
My bowel woke up 2 days after surgery. Day 3 I advanced to regular diet. Maybe it was too soon because I got really sick or maybe it was the disgusting hospital food that made me ill.
Long story short, l I ate the hospital food and it got me sick. They initially thought I had a partial blockage because I was throwing up for 2 days. I couldn't hold down anything. It was painful because I could not even take my pain medicine during this time. I would throw the pills up in a matter of seconds. The vomit was mostly green like stomach acid/bile with only a few food particles.
The other scary part of my ordeal was the odor from my output. It smelled really bad for a couple of days like dead tissue from surgery was passing through my system.
Finally, things started moving in the right direction on day 6 and the nasty crap that I ate passed. I slowly started feeling better. . Result: 7 days in hospital and it was hell trying to recover while throwing up with weak stomach muscles. For my next surgery, I'm going to stick with clear liquids for a day or 2 longer before eating regular food. I guess am satisfied with everything thus far and plan to go back to work next week!
