I sit beside the window and waiting for your reply. I cound'nt sleep everynight. Please please please help me. I really need the answer after remove colon's life. I couldn't stand it ! If I am unlucky, diaherra 30 times/day, will it decrease after some period of times. The laxative is not working for me, 5 months only have a few times and it is so little. I am a chinese women now living in calgary. Is it very dangerous for this operation, after surgery, it it the colon have 36% stick together, have to reopen the surgery again. Please write me your experience. Thank you. Thank you. Thankyou. I cannot get rid of the poop, can I still do surgery ? open or lap. surgery ?

My brother in Hong Kong are strongly resist me to do surgery, it is too danagerous and severe dirahera. My sister saw television in Hong KOng, 2 persons diaherra 28 times a day, and they lost 20 pounds in 10 days, they both want suicide. I suffer very much very much. Please write me your experience after colon removal.

Please help me Please ! As the laxative is not working anymore, can I do surgery through lap. surgery ? I suffer every mininute. I am very scared of the bad consequence of the surgery.

Sorry you are getting such a rough life right now. Why are you taking laxatives if you have Diaherra? the body takes time to heal. I am still on that waiting list too right now!

I think it's good what the Dr. says. I went to a chinese medicine Dr. and got some herbs that gave me great relief from pain and suffering.

Hope you find your answer.

im a little unclear also as to what your disease is.
i think she is saying about the diaherra is that its a side effect of the surgery.
But if your problem is in your colon, and you remove your colon, then your problem should go away. Like with UC (which is what i had) the problem was that my colon was eaten up with disease, and then of coure, when the colon was gone, the disease was gone.

Are you being treated by a doctor? What is your diagnosis?

You should not be taking laxatives if you have diarrhea up to 30 times a day.

The surgery itself is no more or less dangerous than any other surgery; every surgery has a risk but they are rather minimal, usually.  Your surgeon would explain the risks to you.

Have you seen a GI or colorectal surgeon in Calgary?  The doctors operating out of Peter Lougheed hospital are great.

I had severe ulcerative colitis and asked my surgeon what would have happened if I had not had surgery.  He said I would have eventually gone from 20 times to 30 times a day with diarrhea, run the risk of my colon rotting out, run the risk of perforation of the bowel, run the risk of death.

Surgery seemed rather "harmless" to me over those risks and I didn't have much quality of life, either.  I was in pain constantly when I wasn't on the toilet or asleep.

I just read your second post.  Do you mind if I ask who your Calgary doctor is?  Yes, it is very major surgery, but it does not give severe diarrhea like you are being lead to believe.  An ileostomy can lead to very liquid output but that is not the same as diarrhea.

The people on tv are irrelevant.  You heard the story second-hand and do not know their medical histories.  Don't let that story scare you!

My life is MUCH better after surgery.  I'm still young, have very young kids, and would still choose the surgery over living life the way it was.

I had surgery in Calgary and I felt so much better a few days after surgery, even though I was recovering from the major surgery (colon removed). I now am very happy to be free of disease. I was scared about the surgery becuase I was in very bad shape before the surgery but the doctors took such good care of me. Best of luck to you!

The doctor is Robert Lui. He is the general surgery. But he is not suggest me to do surgery. He will call me on december to tell me the appointment time. My family doctor said most likely he won't do surgery for me. The constipation really bother me. I don't know what to do now.

I am glad you recovered so quick, how many times diaherra you have a day ? Are you through lap. surgery ? You are not constipation before ? Please write me something as I am so depresssed. I cannot sleep everynight because of the discomfort. I am eager to wait for your reply.
