about
a year ago, it seemed like my frequency between movements was getting longer and longer. For me, normal was 1-2 days, then 5+ days and the trend was worsening to the point where I wasn't able to go at all without taking something. Over the last 6 months, I've had 2 failed colonoscopies, an incomplete BE, a Virtual Colonoscopy, an MRI, 2 CAT scans and most recently a Sitz Marker test. I can identify a lot with the people in this group who have shared their stories. I wish I new what was in store for myself. The GI doc has told me that I have a problem with colonic inertia, which might have some connection to my diabetes. Also, I guess my sigmoid colon is 4x longer than the average. That's a lot of colon if I do my math right.
Any way, I've been referred to a surgeon, who I'll be meeting with tomorrow, to talk about doing a total colectomy. I don't know, does this sound extreme to anyone, or just me. I suppose if it's not doing it's job at all that would justify it.
I admit I'm a little nervous about the possibility. People on this site have been very open and honest about their expriences. I really appreciate it. I can see that everyone is a little different, so it's hard to say what my experience will be like. I lead a fairly active lifestyle (used to), but this has been a hindrance to doing all I want to do.
I don't know what else to say, just any encouraging words or prayers would sure be appreciated.
Peace
