I purchased some Eakin Seals to hopefully help with the leakage and changing the wafer on a daily basis.  Do I put the Eakin Seal around my stoma?  or around the wafer?  Or does it matter?  I'll probably end up changing it again before I go to bed and I want to try this.  Thanks

I always put in on the wafer and pushed it down forming it around the center. It worked well for me that way. In fact they were very helpful when I was having trouble with leaks.

I put the Eakin seal around my stoma before attaching the wafer. Works for me.

I don't use the Eakin Seal.  I've tried it but I still prefer to use paste.  I question why you are getting so many leaks in the first place!  Have you sought any help for this?  There is always a solution, though I know from experience that a leaky appliance can be most frustrating.   However, you shouldn't have to change your appliance daily .

The reason I have so many leaks??  I think it might be because I used to weigh almost 400 lbs and now I weigh 110 lbs to there is a lot of redundant skin for me to deal with.  I had a stoma nurse when I was in the hospital in Topeka KS and then they transferred me home which is 60 miles away.  Our local hospital didn't have a WOCN and while I was in the hospital doing next to nuttin I had no trouble, even when I 1st came and was less active it was okay but now I'm more active.  I've found a WOCN that is closer than 60 miles away.  It really wasn't the miles I don't think the nurse was really that good either.  I've had one meeting with the WOCN that is close here and she hooked me up with a convated convexed stoma and it really didn't work either.  I have an office visit with her on Monday and hopefully she'll shed some light on the subject.  However, ----I used an eakin and so far I've had near 72 hours of wear time from this wafer so maybe I figured it out.  Keep you fingers crossed!!! cathy

That's good news, Cathy.  Unfortunately, getting a good seal in the beginning is a lot of trial and error ( and a whole lot of frustration in between).  It sounds like you're on the right path.  Way to go!!!
