how can I stop someone from pulling their ostomy bag off???

Hi,

I am a nurse, trying to find a solution for an elderly client who is suffering from dementia and racking up a huge bill for ostomy supplies as every night she pulls her bag off without realizing it. Does anyone have any suggestions??

i tape mine to my stomach, that might work it would be much harder for her to tear off
or at motherhood maternity, they sell these things called belly bands, and they are basically just bands of cloth that fit around your stomach, you could cover it with that, then maybe she wouldnt notice it
Or panty hose, if she could wear those, just the tops
Or some type of clothing she cant get in, maybe pin her shirt top to her bottoms?

does the patient have cold hands? if so, what about mittens, to at least make it more difficult to pick at the ostomy?

Summerstorm summed it up well, all were good ideas. Sometimes these little old people are magical and can get into anything. Do you have an ostomy belt on your client that may help also it would be more difficult to get it loose.
