Post Colectomy Questions

If I had a Total Colectomy (due to Colonic Inertia problems) where my small intestine was connected to my rectum, do I have an appendix anymore or did that go with everything else that was removed? Forgot to ask my surgeon.

I went back to work and started to have some mild pain around the incision and a generalized ache. I'm thinking that's because I'm still healing up.

This morning, I started to see a little blood as I "finished".  I don't know whether to be concerned or not. I thought I ask my friends here with more experience.

What do you think?

 I guess I was suspecting hemorroids, too, which I can take care of myself.  As for my diet, I can eat almost anything at this point. I still stay away from heavy foods, because it makes me uncomfortable, as does overeating. One thing we can say for this procedure is "it's an experience".

 

One of the things I was pretty happy about, right after the surgery was my weight loss (artificially derived, of course) I was hoping to keep  that weight off (was down to 165 from 185 lbs), but it doesn't look like it. Although I've been really good about working on my treadmill and bike and diet, after 2 months, I've gained 10lbs back.

 

This is still so much better than before the surgery.  I almost didn't pursue it as an option, but am glad I let my wife and her nurse friends talk me into it.
