Cocotic- Don't sweat the small stuff. But, do me a favor, would you? Make a list of the things you couldn't do before your surgery. Try to be creative. Maybe it's hang gliding or mountain climbing, or whatever. The choice is yours. All of us were limted by our previous respective illnesses. Now.....realize that you can now do ANYTHING that you couldn't do before!!!
I'll even give you an example. I had my surgery in '89, but prior to that I so wanted to go hot air ballooning. There's no way I could have done that prior to my surgery. But, it was one of the first things I did after my ostomy!!!
I remember a while back, a brilliant person (okay...I'll admit it...it was me!)started a thread about the things they can do now that they couldn't before, and a lot of people chimed in with some really cool thngs about how their ostomy has given them a new lease on life.
Make yourself a list, and please try to focus on the positive things that your ostomy will bring you!!! Believe me...in many ways your life is only now beginning!!!! Trust me!!!
PS. Anyone up for skydiving????
