Resection for spasms anyone?

My left side cant pass much gas.

It is chronic.

I have been told ileostomy or resection migth be an option.

 

Personally i would rather see if there were any other options before going down this route was that the only option given to you ? Is the no medications the docs could try first? Bev x

I could not make it to western hospitals.I dont use plane much.

Remember IBS use to be called spastic colon.

I agree with the others, having this kind of surgery is drastic and is normally done for people with severe disease or cancer and IBS is not either of those so I would doubt you could ever find a doctor that would do this type of surgery for no real reason. Spasms are something that could be controlled Im sure, you just need to find a good GI to chat to about this. Having an ileostomy is no walk in the park and if it was possible that I could have avoided this kind of surgery I sure would have.

Suebear,i tend to agree with you that it is not really IBS.

If your spasms are as strong as mine are I can understand why you would be willing to endure surgery and the aftermath to get rid of them. My doctor prescribed Bentyl, which works most of the time. It at least calms the spasms down enough to be endured.
