Okay, so having an ostomy might not be the end of the world....but it isn't (at least, in the beginning) without it's challenges and adjustments.  So, I was wondering...how do you treat yourselves when you've had a really great week, month, or year?  Is it a new piece of jewelry?  Is it a quiete dinner with your siginicant other?  Even (and you all know me) did you treat yourself to a new car (preferably a Corvette....sorry couldn't resist!).  Seriously...what do you do to pamper yourself, every now and again????

LOL no really i dont do much of that, not for like anything special. I hate jewelry and i really hate when people give me presents, i have no idea why someone would celebrate their bday by the time they are as old as me! Im very happy to still be alive,but come on do i really need to go up in age? lol
I guess the closet thing i can think is when i sold my blue ipod just so i could get an orange one,cause i had an orange camera and an orange phone and all my electronics have to match!
We go out every friday night, or have friends over, so thats not really anythign special.
I guess im boring, lol.

For me it's a long hike, 100-200 miles in a foreign country! I love to hike, love to travel, and that was a big impetus for me having surgery.

I buy something I think I feel good in. While I think I would feel GREAT in a Corvette I really am just talking about maybe a shirt or other clothing ...

I go to a Tack Store and buy fun things for me, my daughter or her horse! There is nothing better than the smell of really good bridle leather!

As my last UC flare up started, I was hired on perm to an amazing corporation. Thank god for the insurance, because I had no idea, this flare up would be my last and would end up in a colectomy. I will be having my takedown end of march/beginning of april.

Since I havent really had a chance to enjoy the new freedom my employment has given me, in one year Im going to buy a brand new Triumph Bonneville.

After a good day or week, I jump on either my motorcycle or into my VW Cabrio, turn the music on LOUD (90's on 9 on satellite radio) and drive. Really fast and roads with lots of corners are awsome. I can either re-live my wonderful day/week or clear my head and be ready for whatever challange is next.

Wow, Allison.....you've just struck a nerve!!!  Nothing beats driving  fast on an old country road, with some great tunes !!!  To me...life doesn't get much better than that!!!

I pamper myself with long (3 hour) walks and hot baths. Once in a while a massage.

Oh, another is to forget all my work and take a nap. My immune system is really happy when I treat it special.

Clothes shopping should be on the list too. Price has to be right and it has to FEEL good on.

I buy a new guitar or bass guitar. I am a collector afterall! I have 15 of them now. Luckily it hasn't put me in the poor house... yet!

My pampering splurge since having the surgery has been shoes...normally some sort of high heel, peeptoe, AMAZING shoe yeah     Before my surgery and really before getting UC even I was never into high heels...however, for two years I was sentenced to flats and sandals because the prednisone made my entire body poofy, especially my feet.  So now I LOVE to buy amazing shoes that I could have never worn while sick.

And really, any form of retail therapy is just awesome!

I really couldn't tell you...shoes are just one of the best things EVER!  smilewinkgrin

My husband and I have had the discussion about men not noticing the difference of the style of shoe and women (especially me) not understanding the differences of knives (which he collects).  He could spend an entire hour educating me on the differences of several pocket knives and in the end I would only understand that they have a different number of blades, maybe the shape of blade, and the coloring of the middle part...that's it.  He simply does not understand why I must have four or five different pairs of black shoes.  Each pair is equally important and necessary yeah  and range from a pointed toe boot to a strappy, platform.  He doesn't get it.  shakehead

But yes shoes...just can't explain it...putting on a new pair in the store and bringing them home...BLISS!

im not into just shoes in general, i LOVE skechers! nothing better than a new pair of skechers! and boots! love me some boots!
and coats and watches, lol. neither of which i wear,but i sure do buy them!

This is a fun thread !!   Turns out I pamper myself with some of the same things other posters have mentioned turn   I'm passionate about driving and I no longer take it for granted!  There's nothing like letting loose on a country road...hitting the apexes, straightening out the corners, hoping not to get arrested.  Doubt the cops would let me off for a "yearn'in for some lap time" at Mosport, the Glen or Mid Ohio.  Those were the days....:)  Too bad a tight suspension makes all the bumps really hurt - ouch!!  But oh-so worth it.    I also agree with the other ladies...never enough shoes and boots !!  And after my reversal (March 1) and some recovery time, I'll be pampering myself with some new jeans !!!!!!!  Finally.   And a mountain bike !!! Gee, I'm sounding like I need to suck up to Santa soon.

ps - congrats to my American friends on the Gold Medal in moguls.  Poor Jen Heil had to settle for Silver this time.   Ah but we Canucks did win that little hockey game tonight :))  18-0 , I believe.

My first and foremost obsession is with shoes...and Leah, I do have a pair of Sketchers flip-flops...super comfy!  However, I really like heels...I have tons of flats, but am rapidly collecting heels of at least 2"-3"...they're more work appropriate than 4" (which I do have a pair of Naughy Monkey's that are gorgeous!).  yeah  

But on to my second most collective item...necklaces!  I adore statement pieces...you know the necklaces that 'make' the outfit?  I have dozens!  A few are single pendents, but mostly I wear the multi-strand chunky beaded necklaces...LOVE THEM!  I really have kind of gone over board with the chunky necklaces since I've lost the prednisone weight b/c chunky jewelry DO NOT go with a chunky face!  nono   I barely even wore necklaces for almost two years!  Not anymore!!!!

And as for the fast driving...I have the need for speed much of the time  cool (as I'm almost always running late and I work a minimum of 45min from home)...BUT I was caught on my way home from class one night and received a pretty hefty speeding ticket blush  I would much rather spend that kind of money on shoes and jewelry! smilewinkgrin

i bet i have at least 10 pair of tennis shoes, and two pairs of boots.  And its not just me, my husband has them and i buy them for my son!  I think i am keeping the company in business!

You made me laugh!  smilewinkgrin   My son wears Sketchers...he currently has the police lightup pair...but that's in addition to a pair of camo slip ons, and a handsome leather pair.  I want to buy him more shoes but am worried about what size to get b/c he keeps getting these growth spurts!  I had to buy him all new clothes about a month ago b/c not one piece of 24mo clothing fit him!  So, he's now fully in 2t (if by the right brand) and 3t...boo hoo!!!!

 

My husband wears Adidas.  He actually has two of the same shoe but one in white and one in black (totally NOT my doing, promise!).  He also just got another pair of running shoes since we got the treadmill, so I think he's up to a total of 5 or 6 pairs...but then he also has lots of other shoes as sneaker/boots, boots, slip ons, etc. turn

 

I have three pairs of tennis shoes.  My Reeboks are super light and awesome, but almost three years old.  My Nike's are older too, and my husband bought them for me b/c they are our wedding colors wink (choc. brown, gold, and crystal blue).  Then I have my Asics...I love them!  And in all honesty, I don't wear my tennis shoes enough for them to look used at all!  My Uggs and Crocs, however?  Yep, look used!  yeah

i found the cutest shoes i wanted to buy my son today, a little pair of blue converse with no shoe strings, they were sewn where they didnt need them! but tehy didnt have the right size, i am heartbroken!

Skechers are a type of tennis shoe! super comfy and cute. they also make dress shoes and boots and sandals, but the tennis shoes are the most well known.

Well,  I already had the 'vette and that didn't really do it for me :)  I did just blow $4k on a rifle though, so that's my latest pampering lol.  It's at the gunsmith now getting tweaked a bit.  I think the next big pampering for me is going to be a Porsche, although that's a ways off

HOW FLIPPIN' FUNNY!!!!  Leah keeled over b/c Ron didn't know what Sketchers were!!!!  HAHHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!  That seriously did make me laugh out loud!

And what is with you fellas and the expensive cars?  If only we had the income for such lushious rides!  I call my Pacifica my Mini-Mommy-Mobile!  Now, please, don't be jealous.  wink   I will pamper myself a slight bit after I am a licensed counselor and trade in the Pacifica for a Buick Enclave!  Black of course...I've always owned black vehicles. 

BUT...my dream car...the one that I WILL have before I die is a Jaguar...I really am not particular on the model...they're all gorgeous.  Perhaps that is what I will pamper myself with once I have my PhD?!  Hmmm...perhaps! 

Oh, also...I've seen the Cons that you're speaking of!  They are ADORABLE!!!!  I found an off-white pair for my son before and they were perfect but they didn't have his size either!  I did get him a low-top brown, tie pair when he was just starting to walk...they were the cutest!  Have you seen the See Kai Run brand?  I adore them!  They have a collection from the size of crib shoes to toddlers to youth!  The youth brand is called Seven.  My son had a pair of the sandals last summer, and I'm going to get him a pair of the sneakers for this summer/fall.  There's also a lot of amazing shoes at 6pm.com  I like what I find for the women's, but really have been looking for my son more than myself...honest! smilewinkgrin

My husband brought a pacifica home a while back, i called it the hearse! i almost killed him! I am a small car kind of gal, i dont like suvs and refuse to drive a minivan, ever! Im not a huge car person, i havent had a lot of cars, i think total i have had 6 cars. three new ones but my first car only lasted about a month. I just sold the cookie monster (bright blue jetta) to my uncle, now you wouldnt think so but that car would fly! I have a lancer now, but i want an EVO, they are so pretty! But im too poor for those, lol. and i would get way too many tickets!

I looked all night for those little shoes on the internet and coudlnt find them! i havent heard of that brand but i am looking right now!

My shoe addiction is so notorious, that for my wedding present, my husband bought me a pair of Christian Louboutins. Seriously, the man bought me a pair of uber high/sexy/expensive heels. He's a keeper!!!!!!!
