Sitz marker test ?

Hello everyone and thanks for reading my post. I had a day 4 xray today to see where the markers are at. I have a very long redundant colon and issues going. This has gone on for years but I always thought this was normal. I developed a rectocele, a large one, last sept. and thats when the real horrific problems kicked in. So anyway back to my question. The tech let me see my xray and a lot of the markers were in the rectosigmoid area so that explains all this pressure I am having. There are still come markers in the lower section of what I think would be my ascending colon, near the appendix. What does all this mean? I am miserable and need to go but don't want to take anything and screw up the test. Does this mean I have slow transit on top of a mechanical obstruction?

  I am kind of in the same boat with you...tomorrow I find out what the doc intends on doing.  26 of my sitz markers are in the bottom of the colon, and 2 in my transverse, so the doc said on the phone that means that my colon is not moving things through properly...mine I think is not working hardly at all.

So I am hoping to hear just what type of surgery he is going to do on me.  I am ready for him to just yank out all my guts and start over...LOL  So tired of being ill.

Yesterday I had to dink the big jug of Golightly cuz I had no bowel movements for 15 days, so I drank it and nothing happened...so I was up sick all night, and finally this morning it moved...yipee

Hi ladies, I posted pictures of my colon, which is long and "extremely" redundant (the sigmoid & the transverse) When I had the sitz marker study, 13 of the markers were in the rectosigmoid area - the rest throughout the large colon. I had already had surgery for my prolapses, but the rectum remained prolapsed and my rectocele was still there. After MANY, MANY tests... I underwent surgery 9 weeks ago. They redid the rectopexy, and re sectioned my colon, removing the entire sigmoid and upper part of my rectum and vaginally repaired the rectocele . I'm some better, but still have trouble getting the stool out. never ending for me.... I kinda wish he removed the redundant, floppy transverse.. as I still have to take MiraLax everyday. sigh.. I guess things could be worse, but I sure was hoping to be much better after this surgery!

Well everything finally started to move after the Go lightly and then it just stopped ...would not let the rest come out....OMG,,,,,

Leslie...what were you taking the golytely for? Just to clean you out? What did the doctor every say with regard to the sitz test?

Tinkerbell....where are the pics of your colon at? What kind of test did they do to see it so clearly?

Well I was finally able to go to the bathroom last night. It was aweful. I won't disgust any of you with the details. I have my final xray Wed. I am so curious to know what it means if I still have some in the lower colon by my appendix and most of them at the rectosigmoid end. Oh well we shall see.

Hi they were having me take the golightly to help me poo and that did not work.  Friday they are doing a total coloectomy on me.......my colon does not work...that is what the sitz marker showed...

Oh Leslie...I am so happy that you are finally at the end of all of this nonsense. You will have to let me know how your surgery goes. So far I know I am looking at a subtotal colectomy. The marker test will determine what to do from here. I will keep you updated as well.

Gosh I know thanks, I did not ever think that this day would come. The one problem that we might encounter...is...if he hookes me back up to my rectum and see if it works...meaning they told me up north that my external sphincter/recatal one is so tight I will not let me pool
But the doc seems not to think much of that pressure memometer test that said it was not working. So I hope it works or after this surgery I would have to see a colo/rectal surgeon for him to do surgery on the rectum///// So pray that this huge surgery works for me... thank you all

Shannon, that is so sweet of you girl.  I just really wish that I could pooo before the surgery it is day 18 without pooping...because I want to eat some chinese food before the surgery, and right now I cant eat anything I am so full of crap, nausiated and just plain miserable.

I wil get on here after the surgery as soon as I can...thank you...Leslie
