End Ileo - Output Frequency

Hi All,

I am just curious as to how many times most of you end up having to empty the bag in a day if you have an end ileo (and if you don't mind, if you can distinguish between during the day and during the night when you have to wake up while sleeping)? I am not in need of the surgery anytime soon (I hope), but I am just curious.

I usually empty around 4 - 6 times a day (depending on what I have or haven't eaten). First thing in the morning, around mid morning at work, just before I leave work and then before dinner and then before bed. These days I'm usually up peeing in the middle of the night (happens with age lol) so just empty then as well (otherwise I'd probably sleep through without emptying most nights) :) So basically, when I pee, I empty :)

I just routinely empty the bag about once an hour or so during the day. Normally I don't get active until after lunch (as breakfast has found it's way though me), then it tapers off about 11pm or so. I'll wake up about 3 or 4 in the morning and empty it then.

Yes, I know it's a lot. Maybe it's just me for not wanting to carry around a lot of effluent... but that's just me. When I'm traveling it's not as often, as it's usually not as convenient. Also I eat a large breakfast, moderate lunch and a very light dinner so I front-load all of the food each day.. which, in turn, makes me empty more often in the afternoon and early evening.

One of the life-changing things you'll go though if you need the ilo is that you'll pay a lot more attention to when, how much and what you eat. as all of those things will determine when, how much and how often you'll be emptying a bag, as well as the viscosity of what goes in the bag...... It sounds complex, but it's really not. you just learn all of it and you go on with a normal life. The difference being is that you control what comes out of you .. instead of your UC controlling it...
