Gift ideas for my surgeon

I'm looking for a really nice gift for my surgeon.  He has helped me so much and truely goes out of his way to make sure I'm taken care of.  I want to show my appreciation but have no clue on what give him.

Any ideas???

I gave my surgeon a card and some life savers because he saved my life...though I think you're looking for something a little more substantial...I will brainstorm!

RITAS~I've always done small gifts of appreciation...and I usually address them to the doc and their staff. I have a local chocolate company that I have sent 'mixes' from and even done edible type arrangements.

My surgeon always says he is undeserving (which is why I include his staff)...but I don't think they understand how appreciative we really are!

I sent Dr.Berg a thank you card with a movie stub in it. It was the stub from the first movie I was able to sit through, thanks to him and his handi work giving me Oscar. It wasn't grand or expensive, just something truly from the heart showing him how he gave me my life back.

im not much into gifts like that, but you could bake him some cookies, muffins, brownies different things you can eat now with no problems, or just any kind of muffins, everyone likes muffins!

I would address it to him AND his staff - his staff are the ones that enable him to do what he does, without them organising things for him behind the scenes, he'd have no patients to operate on!

Speaking from experience, it's always special when the other staff are acknowledged, 1) because they are rarely thanked and 2) because most people forget that they exist and only thank the surgeon/doctor etc involved. They tend to forget the 'others' who make the surgery actually happen.

I believe in sitting down and writing a heart-felt letter. I think the important thing is that they know how much you appreciated them and the difference they have made.

Rita,  I was thinking about a gift for my surgeon too, but instead I wrote him a letter telling him how he has changed my life, and put it in a nice card...but I am broke...so no gift, but a heart-felt letter...
