Headphones,
Funny you posted this right now--I am going through the exact same thing. I haven't posted here in awhile, but just happened to check today...
I am 29, had ileostomy surgery about 2 years ago, and we have been trying to conceive our first for about 10 months with no success.
Typically, a doctor will not have a woman our age go for fertility tests until they have tried for a year, but my doc said that since I had major abdominal surgery, he wanted me to get testing done to make sure my tubes/ovaries/uterus was not damaged by scar tissue (fairly common, unfortunately, with a big surgery).
Well, I had a few tests done, and they found that my left fallopian tube is completely blocked from scar tissue from my surgery. So, basically, we only have a chance of conceiving every Other month since you usually ovulate from alternating sides each month. The good news is my other tube is completely fine, so we can still have kids naturally, it just might take longer than expected.
They also gave me the choice of going on fertility meds that would cause me to ovulate from both sides (1 egg each) every month, giving us more chances to get pregnant. We have not decided if what we want to do yet...
Anyway, I feel for you because I know the frustration and sadness a situation like this can cause. I also really did not want to go for testing, but I am glad I did so I know all the info now...
Good Luck. I would make an appointment with a specialist, a reproductive endocrinologist. Does the Jones Institute have an office near you? They are wonderful.
