Pain around stoma

wow, you seem to be going through the same stuff I have. Is it a sore around the stoma? I had a lot of pain around mine from one, was given some antibiotics, used some powder and it seems to be manageable now. Did you talk to your stoma nurse about it? Just make sure you are not running a fever, which I was. I had a slight infection around the area which is kinda obvious because the stuff that comes out around that area is like battery acid. It is nasty stuff.

I have tried the Eakin seals, every time I use them I get leaks. I use the paste but it stings and used to work better when I had a colostomy, but the skin wound is so wet that it doesn't seal good with this ileostomy. I have tried the Friar's Balsam that someone recommended, it burns and doesn't appear to be helping very much, the stoma powder also. Nothing seems to be helping, I just don't know what else to try. When I had the colostomy, everything fell right into place and I only had like one leak in the entire 6mths but this ileostomy is just unbearable I have to change my bag everyday. I have not been having any fever and I have had a few follow up dr's appts but they do not seem to be too concerned. I do eat pretty much what I want but not very much of it. I have lost nearly 20 lbs over the last 5-6 wks.

when I had my temp ileo I had tons of pain from the thing leaking. The ostomy nurse was usless wanting me to make these little L's which did not work one bit. My mother who is a RN went back home and asked the ostomy nurse there and she told my mom about these seals. They were these O seals that were pliable for irregular stoma's. It was what save me for the rest of the time I had that ileostomy. I cant for the life of me remember the name but my mom said it was in the online catalog she went to.
