OK, I'm sure this has been covered many times but when you go swimming, do you change the appliance and base plate afterwards?

Hi,
There is a waterproof pink tape called Hy Tape. You put strips of it on over the paper part of the base plate. When you finish swimming if you do not want to change your appliance you can just peel off the Hy Tape, set a hair drier on cool, and dry the paper on the base plate. Some water does get under the hy tape but not enough to loosen the base plate if you dry the paper part of the base plate. If you leave the Hy Tape on like overnight for another day of swimming it can cause skin irritation (at least it does with me.)

I go swimming all the time and I don't usually change right after. Don't like changing at the pool. Sometimes it can stay on for a day or two after. I do have big problems keeping base plates on for more than 3 or 4 days with all the working out I do. I run and bike every day and I swim every other day.
Good luck to you with it. The pink tape does help. I do like to take it off ad dry out base plate after.

I do aqua fit and swim ALOT. I use Sure Seals as well. I change the pouch but the base plate stays on for 5-7 days as I use the extended wear.

SURE SEAL!!!!!! I get about
3-4 days of wear time and never change after swimming and I know it helps when the temperature rises and I sweat more, too, and I am super active outside:)
It's breathable and waterproof...looks like saran wrap...and you just wipe it off and go!

sureseals-you get them from your supplier, edgepark or whoever, they go on over top of the flange, once you see them it will make more sense.

OK, Illeostomy for just under a year. Three Kids and having serious anxiety about
doing the swimming / waterpark thing this summer. ( 1st summer with illeostomy) This may be a silly question, but what in the world do you wear to the pool and do you wear your regular everyday pouch and flange or some special type for swimming?

I don't do anything special before or after, just put on my bathing suit and go for it. Afterwards, the sun dries everything out for me :) I wear a one piece ileostomy bag.
Here's a pic of me a year after my surgery (many many years ago) diving into our pool

Here's a pic of a colostomate friend of mine SCUBA diving in the Bahamas

I just wear my usual two-piece pouch and either roll up the bottom or turn it to the side so the
opening is up by my hip. I went out and got a swimsuit that has like a loose tank top thing over the top of the one-piece suit so that it helps hide the pouch, but you really can't see it anyway. Have fun swimming with your kids!!!
