I'm scheduled for surgery on the 30th, ileostomy ... again.
Right now I'm going to the bathroom almost every hour, tired, pouchitis seems to be taking over my body and this JPouch just isn't giving me a break!
The past year since my JPouch surgery I've had my ups and downs, and it's made me so tired. I'd feel great when the antibiotics used to work, and now it seems like nothing helps at all. I can't wait to get a break from it all, with my ileostomy. I've embraced the idea of it finally and realize that it will make me better and stronger.
I'm glad to have a great supporting wife and a daughter who makes me want to keep on fighting this fight until I get better.
Hope everyone is doing well ...

Best wishes to you for your surgery. I have found that this experience is easier with people around who love me and just want me to feel better!

I'm praying that your surgery on Friday goes perfectly and that having an ileostomy gives you relief from pain and constant bathroom trips. It has done that for me, and I'm so grateful for it.

Make sure you walk a lot after surgery to wake everything up, and bring chewable Gas-X, because trapped gas can be painful.
TGIF is going to have a whole new meaning to you soon!

Feeling a bit of anxiety now. Had my pre-op nurse visits and it hit me that I was really going to be doing this. They're going to be doing a loop ileostomy on me because they don't want me to burn any bridges at this point. Plus I think I just need a break from it all. I'm so tired of being tired.
Nurse said they can't use my previous stoma site because they need an area with muscles?!?!? So they marked me on my left side ... any thoughts on that from anyone?
I think I may need something to calm me down on Friday prior to my surgery ...
Thanks everyone for the encouraging words ... I'm sure this is the right direction for me.

Leslie,
I'm getting a loop ileostomy ... right now the pain is just unbearable from the pouchitis and the frequency. Antibiotics just have stopped working all together.
Getting anxious, a bit nervous .. not sure if I'll be able to handle am ileo :/

As soon as you get to pre-op, they'll give you some medicine through IV to help you relax. Everything is going to be so much better once you're not in pain anymore. I'm praying that everything goes perfectly tomorrow!
