Cost of supplies

Hi Everyone,

I use Hollister brand and wanted to know if you guys go thru your insurance for supplies or purchase them out of pocket cheaper online.
I have a $750 deductible before the insurance starts paying for anything. They don't cover gauze (to clean) or the sure seals. They only cover the wafer, bag, and eakin seals. From my calculations and how many times I would possibly change, it's almost like we break even at around $700 for the year for supplies. Anyone have a cheaper source online where you buy your supplies from? :)

search 'cheap ostomy supplies' and you will find the sites that DO NOT ACCEPT insurance...they are the cheapest...go figure! And the service is just a good as my regular supplier:D

I've never used gauze for cleaning, I use a baby facecloth wet and wrung out (and toilet peper). Get most of the stuff off with the tp, then just make sure it's totally clean with the facecloth. My insurance covers everything including eakin seals, bag, all the paraphernelia like hex-on, m9, adhesive remove, stomahedsive powder etc. They even cover hypafix tape (also called medipore) which is what I use to seal my pouch much like a sureseal problably would. The home health care person just writes on the receipt "ostomy supplies". and then the actual receipt for pymt has everything itemized.

Do you use 1 1/4 or 1 1/8" convex?
