Anyone else have this?

Hi all,

Just want to check and see if anyone else has this feeling who has an ileostomy. When gas gurggles through your small intestine, do you ever feel like a ripple of motion in your upper rectum (presumably from a loop of small intestine that is near the rectum)?

With all I went through and my issues being structural rather than disease or pathology, I might be the only one with this. Not bothersome, just a bit strange.

     Hi Rosemary!  I don't feel a ripple of motion but I have a constant feeling of pressure in the anus.  Sheesh...that was one of the reasons I had a total colectomy and permanent ileo...my diseased rectum felt like that all the time.

     I received the results of my CT scan of abdomen and pelvis today.  Thank GOD no fistula.  The surgeon's assistant said I have scar tissue around the anus and some build up of fluid, which is leaking out of my vagina.  He said it is a good thing it is coming out and this may take awhile.  I have the CD of my CT scan and my hubby is going to run it over to my surgeon's office on Tuesday.  I really don't trust the radiologist who works at the center where I had my test.  I know a person who had her xrays misread.  Not sure if it was the same radiologist though.  I just will feel better if my surgeon sees the CD himself.  He still wants me to have the ultrasound though which my gyn doctor recommended.  I would think that the CT scan would be more precise at detecting something wrong than the ultrasound but I suppose they want to be sure there is nothing serious going on.

I have a jpouch and I feel the rippling effect as well.

great .... and I am getting that rippling effect as we speak right now. I probably shouldn't have eaten that gallon of icecream and box of yodels.

I've had the rectal pressure since I've had surgery and that was in June of 2009. Sometimes when I sit down to do my "privey" business it feels like I will just poop out of my rectum.  I only have 7" of colon and they left my rectum when they did my ileo.  The docs have all said it was phantom pain like you have when you loose a limb and it should last a year or so.  Well it has been over a year and I still have it.... and it really drives me crazy.  Our general surgeon here said I could take a fleets enema and I did but I still have it so I don't know what the answer is to getting rid of it or if it will ever go away.  I know they aren't planning on reversing me anytime soon because of my malnutrition and absorbtion troubles; and they said with only 7" of colon to hook up to I would probably have 4-5 or more loose stools everyday.  If anyone has an answer on how to get rid of it I'd sure be interested.
