After I change my bag and wafer on about day 4, then I eat breakfast. Only on bag change days does this happen. It seems like a LONG time, maybe 60 minutes that no output comes out. THen it comes out all at once.

On non-change days, this does not happen. peristalsis seems to happen the minute I put something in my mouth, especially caffeine coffee.

esoR, I have the same problem but don't get the 4 days as a rule. When I change my wafer and pouch it takes awhile before I have any output sometimes greater than an hour. Kind of nice. When I have eggs for breakfast it takes even longer. It doesn't seem to matter if it is a.m. or p.m. I try to schedule a change by when I last ate but when it leaks there isn't a choice and then you sit even longer waiting for the flow to stop. I hate it when that happens.....

Thanks for the response. Yes, changing if a leak would not be fun. Once in a blue moon my stoma goes active when I change, but normally it is real quiet for the change and for the hour like afterwards like I mentioned. I'm going to ask my doc if that is normal. This whole thing is scary. But as long as the ileostomy keeps working I'm good with it.
