how long before you see it again

How long before you see your dinner again on the way out? It does not matter what or when I eat it is gone in a couple hours. I need to gain some weight but when nothing sticks around long to really absord I can't.

ha i just read a thread called the speed of poop on another site!

depends on the food, sometimes its coming out before im done eating it, and sometimes its a couple of hours

     Within a few hours.  Not having a problem gaining weight.  I'm at 120 lbs now and would like to just stay at that weight.

I had the same issue, Dan. I was actually on immodium and something called lomitil maybe? It really is dependant on what you eat. When I went out drinking with my ostomy, I might as well just poured the beer directly into my bag. Different foods will affect you in various ways. YOu have to figure what works for you. Everyone here is different. You gotta figure out what works for you. I loved the subject line too. I was going to get all perverted, but I am refraining ;) Stay well, brother!

It will depend where in your small intestine your stoma is...if it is higher up, it's going to be quicker:(

Personally, I don't see food for a good 8 to 12 hours. I usually eat high fiber which is why...but if I eat 'junk food' it's a little quicker!

I think I read somewhere that normal small intestine transit is 2 hours...cannot remember where I found that though.

yeah i have read that too, two hours in the stomach, two days to make poop, thats what i read anyway, and that's how it was put, lol.

For me it depends on what I eat. Proteins seem to stay in longer than my junk. I was have absorbtion problems and dropped down to 93# and I'm 5'4". Geez I saw bones I didn't know were there. lol My doc did some kind of test on my last admission and they saved my poo for 3 days and then tested it. Now I'm on Creon which does something to the pancrease and makes the poo stay in longer so I can absorb some of it. I weigh 115-120 now and seem to be holding my own....let's just hope it continues.
