I had a colostomy 1.5 years ago and am mooping 5+ times a day. This means that even with an ostomy I'm running to the bathroom uncontrollably. I got the colostomy because of abscesses I wasn't going to the bathroom more than 3 or so times a day unless I was in a flare. I am just frustrated because I have an ostomy and yet I'm still running to the bathroom. I spoke to my GI and she said that some people just moop a lot. I feel there is no point having an ostomy if I'm still running to the bathroom. Does anyone else moop a lot, what do you do?

I did...but then I had a proctocolectomy.
Do you plan on being reconnected at some point? Are you on meds? Meds did a good job of controlling the problem for a long time...but then, like everything else, stopped working.

I've never heard it referred to mooping before! That's wonderful! :) Now I know what to call it :) Myself, I was doing a lot of mooping, not as much as you, but enough to cause concern. I talked to my doctor and I am now taking Lomotil, similar to an Immodium I believe. Before I was mooping about
once a day and now I moop about
once or twice a week, sometimes longer. At the moment, I haven't mooped in almost two weeks.

HA HA HA HA HA HA!
i LOVE IT! Mooping!
I still have my rectum, but I moop very seldom. So I'd guess you may still have disease in your rectum.

From what I was told by several doctors, is that the mooping is caused by the shedding of cells. Darn cells!

Ask your Dr. about
Canasa. It is a supository that will help control the moop. I use as needed a couple days a week and it helps it .
