Does anyone had surgery to repair Enterocutaneous Fistula?
If so, please let me know.
Thanks.

Yeah I have, on two of them they still drain but, only a very small amount and its not poo! I started on humira 4 weeks ago and one fistula has dried up already. I had an abcess under my old stoma scar a month ago and that went into a fistula but, again less drainage since starting humira Bev x

Thank you fo ryour reply. My hubby is having a surgery on Nov. 11th. We're believing that everything will be repaired, standing on the word of God. I like your quote, by the way.
Thanks again.

hoody2~what is your hubby's diagnosis? I do think there are others on her that have had successful surgery...I hope they'll be along.
Good Luck on the 11th and let us know how it goes! Welcome to the forum.

Hello OHIO76,
My hubby was in a bad car accident in 2005, since then he had multiple surgeries. The last one he had was to replace his homograft (originally had Trip A Aneurysm). They left his wound
open so that his exposed hermina developed an Enterocutaneous fistula. He eats solid food and all his waste come out of his fistula. I have been taking care of his fistula since June 2009 when he developed it. He also has decubidus ulcer on his sacrum and his right leg is immoble at this time but getting movement back slowly. He will need an intensive PT after his surgery. Yep, he has gone through hell but he is being storng ans we're believing hic quick & complete healing!

fistulas are usually tricky when they are due to a disease...His isn't so he should do just fine with the surgery!
Don't forget to let us know how it went.

Hi OHIO76,
I just left the pre-op room. I was all chocked up. He has gone through a lot and I wish I could bear some of the burden for him. Thanks for the encouragement. I will give you an update tomorrow.

I just talked to my hubby's surgeon and his surgery went well. They were able to reconnect his intestines and he does NOT have to be in ICU, thank the Lord! I don't know howl long he's going to stay in the hospital. Once he is completely healed form this surgery, he can start his physical therapy.
