Would like to give my supplies to someone in need

Hello everyone,

I had a temp loop illeostomy that was reversed Oct 20th and I am doing great!! The surgery was a few weeks earlier than we had planned, but I'm glad my surgeon did it. I had so many issues with leaking and my stoma coming out by about 2 inches.

I do however have 3 boxes of wafers and 3 boxes of bags that I would love to give to someone who perhaps does not have insurance and can use them. Any suggestions?

You could give them to your ostomy nurse, who could then give them to someone in need.

My ostomy nurse did that, I know.

They never sent me an ostomy nurse!! They sent me a regular nurse who didn't know much about ostomy. It wasn't until I went back to nurse that the hospital said, "Oh, you should have had an ostomy nurse". and by then it was too late.

Good idea though, I'll check with the lady at the hospital.

you could also donate them to the ostogroup. Their website is www.ostogroup.org its an organization that gives people without insurance their supplies for just the cost of shipping.

JoAnne, I have someone who could use supplies, She has a colostomy and her house caught fire and she has lost everything. She has insurance but they only pay 30% so she has to pay for the rest.  The ostomy center gives her a couple at a time but anything will help I am sure. This is an amazing gift! I know as I'm a new ileostomy patient (hopefully reversible like yours!) without a job or insurance. I know there are programs out there that help but a person with a great heart is a beautiful thing. I hope you found someone worthy to donate them too!
