The last few days ive been having bad pains kinda upper left of my stomach and near my stoma, my mom thinks i might have a hernia? a weak part in the intestinal wall? im not sure but all i know is theres nothing i can really do, it only hurts alot when i cough, sneeze, go upstairs etc, im gonna call my doctors medical team since he is taking time off to spend with his family, "which is good because i know he doesnt get much off time." but yeah, any idea what can be causing the pain?

Im driving to the airport tmrw to pick up my uncle but other than that ill be taking it easy.

It's good you are taking it easy till you can be seen. Do you have any sort of wide support belt you could wear? Even holding a pillow or folded up blanket against the area when you cough or do something that causes your discomfort may help?

might also be gas, or a partial blockage. i think taking it easy is a good idea for now though.

I am two-weeks post-surgery and I have been having a similar pain. Mine hurts under my stoma and then radiates to the upper right... a sharp throbbing pain. It is worse at some times and then lets up for a while. I have been wondering if my pain isn't just a muscle spasm or tightness of some sort. I don't think I have a blockage as my output is great and it doesn't feel like gas pains (which I have also had plenty of). I asked my surgeon about it and he thought, since it was intermittent, that it was probably nothing to worry about yet unless it persists. How long ago did you get your surgery?

I notice mine is worse in the morning, or if my posture hasn't been the greatest and then I try to stand up straight. Ouch! It really kicks in then. One night it was throbbing like crazy, and then I had one really sharp spasm that made me yelp and then it went away for the rest of the night. That is why I thought maybe it was just a muscle thing. After all, I just had a hole cut in a major muscle to pull a stoma through. I have found putting a heating pad on it helps too.

blueheron, yours is most likely the muscle going back together. it hurts! and you might get weird stabbing pains or dull aches for quite a while, i remember being like 9 months out and occasionally having an odd feeling in that area. It didn't hurt just was uncomfortable. It takes a long time for the muscles to grow back together, and you use your stomach muscles constantly. so they have a lot of strain on them anyway.
you mentioned your posture, be arefule that you don't hunch over to keep your stomach from hurting because then your back will hurt. It is not something you do on purpose, it just happens. i had that problem and didn't even realize i was doing it, and my back ended up hurting way worse than my stomach!
