i dont think actually having an ileo woudl cause it. Some of of the diseases that lead up to needign an ileo, UC and crohns for example can cause it.
Also there are lots of meds that cause symptoms like that.
I dont knwo your age but of course it does start to come as you get older too, esp if you have been in poor health for a long time.

I have talked to so many rheumatologists about
this, and, most are convinced that removing the colon can cause arthritis---it sure has in me

I don't think losing one's colon leads to arthritis. It's the reason one lost his colon that is the cause. UC and Crohn's patients have a much higher incidence of arthritis, or any inflammatory disease. Just because you had your colon removed, to IBD, doesn't mean that you are free from other inflammatory conditions.

I've been having chronic back pain since my ileo in June. Arthritis runs in my family and I believe my constant use of prednisone kept my symptoms at bay. Now that I am off the prednisone, I have all kinds of aches and pains. That's ok...I would rather live with the aches and pains then to suffer with ulcerative proctitis and be on all those pills, especially prednisone. I know I have osteoporosis too (thank you prednisone) and maybe that is the cause of my back ache. Will know for sure next week because my family doctor is sending me for an MRI.
