Sex with an Ostomy Bag

I have a question.  I got my ileostomy in June of last year.  Whenever I have sex, it seems like I can wake up a couple of hours later and my pouch has came unsealed and I'm wet.  Does anybody else have this problem and are there some type of belts for this problem?

I've had a ileostomy for more than 40 years.  I have never used a belt to fasten my bag on.  When I've changed it, I've just cleaned the area really well, then using paper tape I tape all around the karaya disc really well.  I can keep the bag on usually between 4-7 days on average.  This will change at times when the skin becomes irritated.  If this doesn't work for you, contact the ostomy therapist at your local hospital.  Good luck.  Gary

When I had my iliostomy I wore something like Ron's contraption - minus the camo;). It really did hold things in place and conceal the bag. When I read your post I wondered if you should try another position. Maybe your partner is applying too much pressure on your bag?

i wear a belly band over mine. At first i taped it up too, but then found that wasn't necessary.
I don't know that the position should have much to do with it, TMI here, but we do stuff that applies a lot of pressure, lol.

Love your new add on about singing and dancing. Think I'll give it a shot today, can't mess that up too badly.

its impossible to feel bad while dancing! and its awesome exercise, just take off around the house dancing like a fool, you will feel better right away!

Hey, I have had this issue several times with the leaking after sex and I thought it was only me. LOL Me and my husband are assuming the bag is getting pulled somehow and this puts pressure on the wafer???? This has only happened with Hollister though. Since I have switched to Convatec and use sure seals, I have not had this leakage after sex.

Which system are you using?

How are you doing? We have not heard much from you....Tracy

Tracy, I use the 2 piece convatec.  My husband and I aren't rough; I just think that my pouch may get pulled downward.  I ordered a belt and it just came, so maybe that will work.

I am doing well since my permanent ileostomy surgery in June.  I'm not anemic or constipated anymore.  I'm healthy and can eat almost anything.  I do get the diarrhea often and have to drink extra so that I keep from dehydrating.

So far, I haven't had any obstructions or problems with my rosette.

I hope that all is well with all of you, too..

Try going to ostomysecrets.com I use the wraps when my husband and I you know what.
