otc, but I needed to share

Hi all.
I got some worry-some news today.
I went for that follow-up ultrasound (last one by perinatologist, baby was hiding under my stoma, so Dr. said he couldn't see all of her heart that he wanted to. He told me he didn't anticipate anything wrong, but to come back for sure.)

Well, it turns out he does think there may be something wrong with her heart. He wasn't very specific, but said he didn't see all of the anatomical parts he thinks there should be by now. So, he's sending us to a pediatric cardiologist to evaluate her heart.
I was in such shock, that I didn't ask many questions. I totally didn't expect anything like that.
He told me it could be anything from a chromosomal abnormality to something just specific to her heart or even that nothing is wrong, and they'll think everything looks ok.

I am very scared. the nurse is supposed to call me sometime to set up an appt. for the next ultrasound, and I'm just a nervous wreck.

I know this doesn't have anything to do with my stoma, but what about all those CT scans I had just a couple of years ago, or the Celebrex I was taking until I found I was pregnant (I was about 4 weeks), or the allergy meds, or the inhaler.

I feel so helpless and so worried.

I truly hope and pray that everything turns out to be just fine and that your doctor is just being overly cautious. My sister's OB told her that her firstborn might have Cystic Fibrosis and had her worried sick for months. When the baby came, she was perfectly fine. All she had was a mucus plug in her intestine that needed to be suctioned out. I think with the fear of malpractice suits, doctors disclose every possible thing that might be going on, no matter how slim the chance, so they cover themselves, but unfortunately, they instill fear in people. I hope that's the case here. Please keep us posted on what you find out from the cardiologist. You and your hubby are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you all for the support. I just needed to vent.
I think it sucks that I was on tons of meds during my first pregnancy, and my daughter was perfect, but I've been on almost nothing for this one, and this baby may have problems.

I'll keep you posted. the Dr.s office still hasn't call to set up an appt.

Hang in there Chassity. We'll be here for you...try not to worry about the 'what ifs'...wait for the facts once you've been evaluated by the cardiologist.

I think I just answered your email! lol. But, I have not had any problem with prenatal vitamins. I've tried a bunch. I would ask your OBGYN for samples. Mine gave me about 5 different kinds to try, and I can't say I liked any one better than the other. I am using Prefera OB + DHA, only because I told the OB that I didn't care, and that's the one she gave me. It is a brand name though, and with my insurance, expensive. I think next month I will be going to a generic one.

My dr.s appt. is Tues.

So funny that I found you twice.. Weird. Yes you did email me. Hope all is well with the baby. I guess I clung to you twice because we are close to the same age, prenatals, and have ileostomies. Small world.:) Thanks for the info so far. And good luck at the doctor's!
