Is a total colectomy a cure for constipation if the entire GI tract is slow?

look, i really hate to scare you or anything. but well, the pelvic floor is a very delicated area with lots of nerve ends and the most bad comlication that can happen is nerve damage that results in horrible chronic pain for life. i have 2 friends (women) who had this happened to them and they just live on narcotics. that's my biggest fear.

another thing is scare tissue developing in the pelvic and can cover the Fallopian tube and thus having problems to conceive a baby and also interrupt the bladder functioning.

but on the other hand, look at all the wonderful folks here who had their rectum removed and didn't have any of these coplications, so i don't know, maybe my fears are exaggerated..?

Oh, I haven't heard that before... My baby is 27, so I'm not likely to have another one anytime soon... they think that that may be the reason my p/floor is dysfunctional... child birth... can I ask if you're male for female? not that I would think it would make much difference... smhair

Hey Teddy,
I wanted to let you know about me. I had a TC in August of 2009 and diagnosed with a very slow digestive system. I had my colon removed due to colonic inertia. I would not have a BM but every 2-3 weeks. I had it removed by laproscope. The small intestine was attached to the rectum. I have not had a bag. It has been hugely successful for me. I am still working at diet issues. Like you I love veggies and fruits, I just eat very little to get a taste or eat them cooked well.
As far as scars, I am 41 but enjoy wearing bikinis. My scars are not that bad and are fading. At first it was unsettling but, I wear them proud. If you want to see a picture of them now in a bikini..I'll email them..or friend me on facebook! lots of pics there! Good luck! I hope this helps
