Hi everyone,
The residents have already been here this morning, and I assume I will see my surgeon here a little bit later. It should be official to send me home today! Hooray! I am glad that they got all these machines unhooked from me now. I feel like I have finally lost some of water weight. Man, the tech weighed me this morning, and was like, ummmm, did you lose weight on me? I haven't lost since I have been in the hospital, which is good!! We didn't want me to! It was extra water weight I gained, 10 pounds of it from yesterday morning today! My goodness!!!!! I kept on telling everyone yesterday I felt heavy, my ankles were swollen, and how I kept hearing swishing noises in my abdomen. They should believe me now!
Hodaya, you are right, about the low-residue, prob. for a little awhile. I tried to eat some vegetables yesterday, and I had horrible gas pains last night. It hurt! It is weird b/c I can def. feel my tummy rumbling and the small bowels waking up trying to do the job now. I went several times yesterday, lost count, and I have already went twice this morning. I did print off that low-residue diet pamphlet Nanci posted and have it at home. Will have to make sure to follow, but I need to make sure to keep my strength up, too. That has been a concern with the dietician here. I told her yesterday that I think it will just take some time for my digestive system to adjust. Like I mentioned, I am sooo used to feeling a certain way, but I do hope these gas pains go away. How long was it till you felt like things were moving more smoothly, digestive wise, not just potty wise? I know you still had problems with your small bowels, but do you know of anyone else who has vouched recovery post-op? How are you doing post-op Nanci?
Mary-Your day is coming, and I am sure you are ready!
Ali-I wish you the best on trying to find a surgeon. And ditto on what Mary said, I tried to stay on a regular routinue a lot, and it didn't help! I still felt like sitting around doing nothing most the time! You have been through sooo much, and I think you have waiting long enough for surgery!
Smarty-thanks for checking in on me!
One final note, glad Nanci posted my pie recipe. I absolutely love it! It is easy on the stomach, tastes very good, and it isn't really bad for you either! Def. a good summer-time, cool pie.
Well, hopefully, next time I post on here, I will be out of this hospital bed!
