Pelvic pain!!

I had the large incision surgery frm belly button to pelvic area. Scar healing ok except where pelvic crease is at. Have a good size wound n a lil deep. Home nurse is packing it n putting antibiotic cream. Area is extremely sore in still hurts to laugh yell n cough. Is it normal after 3weeks post op??

I had a wound opening from an abdominal surgery that was from having tubes draining. Had a difficult time with it healing, and it took quite some time. I'm sure since your having to have it packed that will keep aggravating it, therefore I would think that it is normal to still be sore. However, has your Home Nurse said anything in regards to your concern? Or have you asked your doctor about it? I would definitely follow-up with the Doctor just to make sure that it is healing correctly. Plus it would I'm sure give you more of a peace of mind and not having to be worrying about it. If nothing else, I would call the Advice Nurse at your Doctor's Office and ask them. I'm sure they will be able to tell you if it is something that needs to be seen by the Doctor.

A month ago I had a Laproscopy Temp. Loop ileostomy. Was only in hospital for 2-days. Feeling better quickly from surgery and getting used to the whole stoma care. I needed the surgery as my intestines shut down and quit moving anything thru. So everything I ate, stayed in me. I also have a large Rectocele. I just saw my Colon Surgeon after 3-weeks post-op and told him how happy I was with the surgery and husband asked "when can I make it permanent instead of temporary." He said that on my next visit which will be in September 3-months post-op. I can't wait.

Do you have any advice for me? Thank you for letting me babble on and on.

Temp. Loop ileostomy May 10, 2011...Bowel problems for 43 years...Rectocele 2x...Cystocele 2x...All my insides had fallen into Pelvic area from the loss of muscle from 8-pregnancies, 7-births (1-C-section first baby, 6-Vaginal births)...Had 2 Bladder lifts since 2004... Abdominal Hysterectomy...Colon went thru Vaginal Wall and it and Bladder fell out of Vagina...Recently Diagnosed with Bipolar 2 and Borderline...Manic Depressive...Panic Disorder

I had open surgery, and then my wound bled, so remained open to heal. From then, I was still in hospital 3 more weeks (numerous horrific complications). Gosh, the pain of moving from side to side, coughing, sneezing, laughing. about close to another 3 weeks for pain to finally subside . It is painful, be patient, it will get better. Until it closes, just apply antibiotic ointment in the open area & cover but be sure to let it breath. If pain is great, see the doctor.
