I have had a horrible night. My heart rate is too high and I am in extreme pain. The doctor came in this morning and is going back in to do emergency surgery. He said I may have a leak, twist in the bowel???
I had xrays and an ekg at 2am. Please continue to pray. I just can't believe this is happening.

OMG!!!! Tracy, how horrid!! I didn't get on here earlier in the day because I was up all night with bad intestinal and rectal cramps way beyond mucous impaction. I'm in tears and calling my doc, but now I'm praying for you even harder than for me. I cannot believe this is happening to you. God needs to get into the act like NOW! Scared for both of us, you more than me. I am with you. Rosemary

Hi All,

I have not heard word from Tracy's mom yet and am sure hoping all went OK for her. I don't yet want to call Tracy's cell which likely Joe or her mom have because I don't want to bug them if things are not good. If I hear, I will post.

I got some bad issue going on with some colon bleeding after a very small mucous enema yesterday. I only used a small amount of water to get mucous out of my rectum like I do off and on, it comes out then it's done. But today I have all this cramping and am rectally expelling trip after trip of old mucousy blood. Sorry about TMI. My doc left my colon in me because my small intestine was already stuck in scar tissue. He had enough to deal with and did not want to do too much surgery on me. I certainly agree. BUT, I sure hope I'm not heading down a bad road with some colon bleeding problem. Auuugh!

Anyway, praying for Tracy and I will post when I hear. maybe I will call tomorrow if I've not heard. I feel like I know her so well and we've never met but have exchanged pictures and lots of phone calls. I think I originally met her on another website. Interesting. Rosemary

Rosemary, i don't know what's going on with you, but i really hope it's nothing major and resoles soon. are you going to see your surgoen? keep us posted on Tracy and you!

UPDATE ON TRACY July 5th

I called Tracy's cell and left a message. A friend of hers called me right back. Surgeon put her to sleep, went in through the stoma today and there is no leak in the small intestine. Checked for necrosis (that means interrupted blood flow) but found all to look good in that regard said blood flow fine. He did manage to correct a small twist without operating. Some fluid around the hernia repair mesh, could be a reaction? Too soon to tell. There was in general lots of swelling and adhesions. So he is going to play it conservative and start her on PICC line nutrition tomorrow and leave the NG tube (that he put in once she was asleep) in for longer this time. His intent is to give her body a rest so that swelling can subside, she can gain some strength, and she can have some time to heal. Sounds like a good plan. He said in about 3 days he will be able to tell in which direction things are heading. Everyone pray that they head upwards for all the best for her. Rosemary

If my colon irritation with bleeding issue and cramping persists I will get in to see my surgeon. My guess is that I may have disuse colitis in my colon and that maybe treatment with short chain fatty acid may quell it. Still can't figure out what the cramping was, but it's one day at a time with all of this, isn't it? Glad we have each other.

P.S. I have been very lucky to be as well as I have been and pain free for four years. If this is the beginning of some big deal, I'm sure glad I traveled all I did!

Still the same with me, cramps and passing bloody mucous rectally, way more than normal. My doc is out of the country, I think lecturing as he does, but his nurse is going to email him. He still stays in contact of course, and has colleagues that would see me if anything totally nuts happens. So in the meantime am taking it easy and resting a lot. IT is hot and humid out so I am napping with my cat in where it is cool.

So today, the plan was to put in Tracy's PICC line and NG tube. I can't even bear the thoughts of ever going through anything like that as I have already "done my time" Though I did not have the PICC. As soon as she gets out of this, she is likely going to be just like me, hoping NEVER to have to have another surgery again at all ever, no way!

Her friend said it would be 3 days before prognosis could be made so I'll wait awhile before I call again. Or I can wait for email, I gave her friend my email address.

Sure glad whatever this is did not hit my on my trip. I have been very lucky in that regard. Glad I was well in Israel and just hot at the wailing wall, but oh, well. The heat must be getting wild there now. Hope you are continuing to do well. Rosemary

Colon/Rectal bleeding better. BUT I caught up to Sarah on another thread and she gave me the schedule of steroid enemas she got that seemed to fix her issue with only the rectal stump, but hey to avoid this again and cure what is left of this diversion colitis I would be happy to have steroid enemas for awhile. This has been a bad 3 days and my whole colon is in diversion colitis.

Still praying for tracy. TOo soon to tell so that is why her friend did not email me. I will wait about 5 days before I call her cell again if I don't hear as I don't want to be a pest. Her friends and family are likely stressed out enough as it is. But will get updates as I can. Still praying for her.

Hi Colli,

Her family must be just beside themselves. I'm scared for her to be honest, but bodies can recover from amazing things. She is really incredibly upbeat and I have the impression just from talking with her sort of a calculated risk taker with belief that things will work out. Hoping her attitude, her doc, support from friends and family and God pull her out of this. Rosemary

Thanks I gotta stick with the surgeons office until I get the steroid enemas to quell this diversion colitis. I cannot imagine that they would not do it if this is indeed what I have. THEN I gotta get with a LOT of other projects I have been putting off. Maybe this gave me the kick start I need. RJ

thanks so much for your effort to keep us updated, Rosemary! i'm really worried about Tracy too. and yeah! i'm so glad what happened to you didn't happen on your cruise..... that would have been scary.. i wish it didn't happen at all! hope it resolves soon hon!! and nothing really nuts happens.

i'm doing ok thanks. i just missed taking my prune juice day before yest, cuz i was out late and when i got home it was too late, so i just went straight to bed. i felt really horrible, cuz i did eat that evening and not taking the prune juice makes it all stay in. it's amazing, cuz i ate a big meal, but w/o prune juice nothing comes out and even when i woke up the next morning the bag was still totally empty..... isn't it amazing how slow my small intestine is?? i NEVER miss taking my prune juice, but just that day i had the chance once again to see what happens when i don't drink it. i just hope prune and pear juice never stop helping me.

keeping Tracy and you in my prayers! and oh yeah, the heat is getting more and more crazy over here :p

WOW! Hodaya, I hope that prune juice keeps working for you too! That is scary that nothing moves without it. Glad you found what works. I assume that when you did drink it that everything came out OK? Could you have just drunk the prune juice when you got home, gone to bed, and emptied the bag in the morning? Or do you have to be up and around for the juice to work? Rosemary
