I just had my final surgery the take down. After my surgery I was only in the hospital for 2 days which I was very suprised. The first time i pooped there was blood which is normal but after that i did not see it anymore. The inscision where the stoma was is not painful, it a pain score of a 2 at the most. Now if they mention there is a drain that they have to take out dont be alarmed. I worried myself that it was painful but i did not even feel them take it out and it small.
For the first two weeks my doctor wants to keep the stool liquid just so my intestines can heal before make try to make the stool form. You may feel crampy and have to go often at first but there is not urgency or pain which i am so grateful for that. I just so excited to be pooping again!
Right now i where a pad just when i have minor drainage if doesnt go to my clothes. Also just where it is diarhhea and it bothers my skin, i just put desitine on it. And as far as pain medicine i am not really using it and i do tend to feel for my bag and then i realize i no longer have it!! :) Best choice i have ever made and it is totally worth the surgeries. Good luck to all that are about to experience this surgery, you will do great!! :) <3
