Modable wafers?

My husband switched to the convatech SurFit moldable CONVEX type and does not use paste or seals as he did in the earlier days with the hollister new image convex wafer. For him this particular wafer is fine by itself. He was getting 7 days but now that he is back golfing twice a week and it is quite hot here in Florida he gets 5-6 days.

Maybe try one of the samples without paste or seals and see how it goes when you have a few days home and not needing to be anywhere that an unexpected change might be necessary???

Hello, I had my ileostomy surgery in May. I started out using the moldable wafers, however I began leaking. I tried them without, with paste, and eakin seal. For some reason I just kept leaking out of it. I then tried ordering more and they messed up and sent me the kind that you use the circle examples to trace on the back of the wafer, and then cut. I thought I would hate this kind, however, I ended up doing well with this kind. I originally was having to use a lot of the eakin seal and then I began leaking and tried without anything except the barrier wipe right before i attack the wafer to my skin. So far now I haven't had any accidents for quite some time now.

I feel for you about your stoma changing size or shape, not sure which or both. How long have you had your Ostomy? After 4 weeks my stoma was at one size and it hasn't changed at all, and is perfectly round, so I am able to pre-cut and take with me. That must be difficult if your not allowed scissors into places. Strange how we take something like that for granted until your not able to do it.

I wish you all the best and do recommend trying the moldable wafer. I might have had problems at the time with mine cuz i was so new to having a stoma and really paranoid that i would mess up attaching everything. But I know that you don't have to use paste and eakin seals unless you have like an indent around your stoma.
