the new hollister is awful! there were a lot of threads about it when they first changed it. you got lucky that you just got them. the first set i got, i didn't even try them on, because i had heard so many bad things about them. so i just tried messing with them and opening and closing them, and on the second or third opening, the entire flap thing pulled off at the bottom! all the way off, there was no way to close the thing at all!
so i thought, ok maybe i pulled it too hard, so i tried another one, same thing, and yet another, same thing. so i sent back two boxes for credit and they sent me a box of the kind with clips which i will not use! luckily i had about 80 bags at that time, so i just ordered some new samples.
well i sent letters to hollister, and called hollister and they all said they would pass on my complaints, and in my emails i included parts of the other posts from people that had problems with them.
hollister knew there were huge problems with it, because they had sent people out to discuss it with certain groups, and were planning on having something at the conference in reno this year. im not sure what was going on with that, maybe someone will post after it is over.
Your best bet is to find another system, those new bags are (no pun intended) crap

Is this the new design of the Hollister New Image bags? I was pretty upset at first when I first got them because I noticed the flap was different. It took me a while to learn how to seal it up really fast. Sometimes they do really stick, but I have never torn one.
Now that I think of it, does the wafer melt really easily and swell up around the stoma? I have been trying to figure out what I did different to make this suddenly keep happening in the last 2 months. I thought it was the Adapt rings.

I love the Hollister's new closure. With the old one, I caught the velcro closure on my clothes 3 times and accidentally dumped the contents onto my clothes and the floor.

I have found that when I am closing the closure, that it works best if you squeeze in the middle, then squeeze each side, that this closes it and it will not leak at all.

I have had issues getting the closure open to empty, but I have found I had this issue with ALL of the ostomy products. I just figured I have to wash my hands anyway after going potty

I have only had an ostomy for a year though and using Hollister products for 6 months and I have only used Hollister products for about 6 months and only went through about 4 boxes of the old closures anyway, so maybe my opinion doesn't count.

I used hollister initially when had stoma done many, many years ago but after 3 months they stopped sticking at all and so swopped to a two piece system by convatec and have never looked back.

I wish Hollister would use a bit heavier plastic on their bags. I haven't torn one yet, but I can see it happening. I put on a Hollister roll and lock bag yesterday that was defective. It was clamped wrong at the bottom with the plastic overhanging a bit, and it just would not fully open to empty. Since it was just one bag I didn't call them, but even on the 'good' bags that opening area needs improvement, the unenforced plastic side at the bottom is a pain to empty and clean.

I had a couple of these new bags where the flap came loose from the velcro. I don't know if that's what you are referring to, but it leaves no way to close up the bag. Luckily these both happened at home and I was able to change out once and the other one I used some Super Glue to stick it back on since I was planning to change the whole thing in an hour or so. Both were from the same box and since I've used that box up, the current box seems to be better.

I had my first leak with the actual lock n roll bag today (I've had my ileostomy for 2 months, and have finally gotten into a wafer/system that works for my stoma) and was really surprised that it happened. Initially, I noticed just a teeny tiny drop of something right at the end of the seal (I'm probably not describing that correctly... the part right at the bottom after you've folded it up and locked it), and I put a piece of pink tape over it since I wasn't in a position to swap out bags at the moment.

Then, a little while later, I was in the bathroom getting ready to empty, and saw that it was like there was a cut/tear across the back of the plastic, right before the fabric panel on the back of the bag starts. Speaking of the fabric, whoever observed that it gets messed up really quickly - thank you for saying that - I wondered if it was me! Anyway, as I said, I was surprised, and I'm wondering if it's generally just a defect or problem with the bag, or if it could be something having to do with a person's output or how full your bag is.

I'm pretty compulsive about emptying - I don't think I've ever let a bag get half way full; I generally empty at 1/3 or even less. However, as my output has become more solid, I do notice that it's heavier in the bag, and was wondering if any of you find that emptying even more frequently helps prolong the bag life. Bags can always be changed out easily if they leak, but I'd like to keep mine for the full 4 days or so I go between full changes!

Any tips on what you all do with these bags would be great - as someone who is new to this, I'm always looking for advice! I'm currently using the Hollister New Image Flextend Convex wafer - I have a somewhat recessed stoma, though it's finally popped back out! I tried and actually really liked one of the Coloplast bags for convexity, but unfortunately, the adhesive and shape just doesn't work for my skin and the shape of my abdomen.

I strongly dislike the Hollister products. They are what the hospital set me up with after I came home and I've been trying to figure out what I like and don't and I can honestly say I'm not happy with anything I've used from them except the stoma powder. The adapt rings push their way up through the wafer hole and block my stoma off... and I find after two days of wear the spot where the pouch attaches to the flange leaks. Also my ET suggested wearing my belt but I'm kinda pudgy around the hips and I find it just kinda folds over on itself because it's only an inch or so wide :( So I'm trying other things to see what I can find that works for me! I'm in Canada so our main choices are Hollister, Coloplast and Convatec. Not sure what else is out here for me to try. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have been in touch with Hollister and am trying to develop a business relationship with them. I have a conference call setup with them about these complaints and also recommendations on possible new designs.
So ... let me know everything you want them to hear =)
