Hi, my name is Whitney and I'm 20 years old. I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis when I was 7. I battled it for 10 years, and when I was 17 my doctors told me it would be best that I have my colon removed. They made it sound like everything would be fine after, just a little diarrhea. I had the surgery on March 18, 2009. I wore the bag 4 months and had the reversal Late July. They said it would take 2-3 years for me to feel "normal" again. Here it is, over 2 years later and my life is hell. I can barley eat or drink anything. After 7pm, I cannot be out anywhere or around people because I have to go to the bathroom constantly. about
5 months ago I went to see another docter about
all the trouble I'm having. He told me that the surgeon I had did not put in the J pouch. So, I just have a straight shot. He put me on Lomitil which helps me through the day.
I just want to know if there is anyone who has had the reversal and has a "straight shot" for more than 3 years or more, and if they had as much trouble as I am, and if it ever gets better. If it doesn't, I'm considering doing the entire process over once I'm out of college so the J pouch can be put in. I just know that I cannot live the rest of my life as I am now.
