pouchogram, yup you spelled it right, is done about
2 weeks before your takedown. 2 months is a shorter wait time inbetween, so don't be discouraged if its longer. My surgeon, for example never does a take down less than 3 months after the initial surgery. Just her rule. Depending on your surgeon the pouchogram can be done either rectally or through the loop. From my readings around, most are done rectally (which in my opinion is odd i mean the loop is right there and to go into someones butt unnecessarily is just mean lol) my surgeon does almost all through the loop of the ostomy. By the by, ask which way they will do it when they schedule it because i've read that the rectal ones people brought extra bags cause the stuff they put in you to be able to see your pouch will fill up your bag really fast. If they go through the loop it will spill out all over you. so be prepared for a mess either way, lol! I'm one month out from using my J-pouch and I posted about
my
experience recently if you want to read it for some "what to expect." Also feel free to email me if you have questions about
J-pouch, I'll do my best to give you info. good luck to you!
