Hi Run!! Glad to see how well you are doing. I dunno if you remember me, I am a patient of Dr Lavery too, and was like a month behind you back this spring. Well I had MY step 2 on Sept 22, had a ROUGH time, in hosp 18 days. I have been checking your blog for updates but finally saw this. With the high output, Im sure they'll tell you how normal that is, mine was 6,000 at its peak!! I had a ileus and ended up needed a nasogastric tube and TPN, finally got out though. Week later, fevers and dehydration, so back to ER. Just a few hours of fluids did it. I hope you get to go home soon, seems like you're tolerating the food well..I think it all was too fast for me, 2 days after surgery solid foods--it seemed crazy, you know the CC system of ordering food, the lady comes around and runs down "Weee have pot roast, mashed potatoes, fried chicken", lol we laughed everytime. Anyways I missed her for my first solid food and they send a big gross BURGER, like i was gonna eat that 48 hours post-op. Keep up those fluids and be careful to start with the pain pills, take them with some food, I threw up after it (but that was probably ileus?) Take care!!
