Wow that is a high fever! Guess it could be flu, hope you have a speedy ER, if there is such a thing. Maybe You'll feel better after some IV fluids too..

So sorry you're having such a hard time, glad you're getting needed medical attention, and hopefully soon someone will be able to look at your stoma too.

It's possible you have the flu, but really, that doesn't seem like the most likely reason, given that you just had surgery and all.

Is Marlene your stoma nurse? Can you tell her that you fear the stoma is emptying below your skin and that that will cause infection (or already has)? Just seems so clear to me, dont' know why they aren't getting it....

Hope relief is on the way....

Trouble is they think us (the patients) are all idiots and couldn't possibly know what we are on about and are just being paranoid or reading too much stuff on the internet. Makes me so angry when I know I have an abscess and know it won't go away quietly but am told that couldn't possibly have any abscess or infection as don't have a temperature or any external symptoms, well that is until I collapse with peritonitis and sceptacemia then suddenly they start to sit up and pay atte ntion.

Hope you manage to get this sorted, something is obviously not right and they should be listening to you. Hope you feel better soon.

I am back home now. All blood work was normal, so they are thinking it's not surgical infection or abscess. They also screened for UTI and did chest xrays and this were also normal. I got an IV while there which helped get me rehydrated. So they don't know exactly what is causing the fevers but I could have a virus with really bad timing. I'm supposed to call in to the surgeon's office in the morning to let them know how I'm doing.

Marlene is my surgeon's nurse and my main point of contact with his office.

I don't have any abdominal pain, so I tend to think it's not infection from the incision or stoma. Quite the mystery, really. I've been a little nauseous so the ER doc gave me meds for that so I can keep eating and drinking and keep my strength up.

Thanks for all of your support. Nothing can ever just be easy with this stuff, huh?

In my initial life as a patient, I kind of was an idiot..... was 100% convinced that my Crohn's was not really a disease, that it was caused by stress, and could be controlled by diet. I remember a gi doc who I didn't particularly like trying to convince me I had a serious disease, and me thinking she was being mean and wanting me to take pills that I didn't need for the rest of my life because she was brainwashed by the drug companies and didn't understand how the body really worked.

Seems like after a certain point we should get our informed patient certificate or something.... fortunately some of my docs take me seriously, but it's hard to prove oneself w/some of them....
